PCN - double line parking. Do I have grounds to appeal?

Hi,

I foolishly parked on double line and got a PCN, however the line is not continuous and I heard that it has to be. Do I have any grounds for appealing the PCN?

 

My car was parked where the red line is on first image.

A judge in one case did say that althought the regulations say that, it is obvious there are double yellows there and disallowed the appeal.

Write to the council and highways and DEMAND (Never ask or request when dealing with parking penalties) the Traffic Regulation Order that covers this area listed on the ticket.

With a bit of luck they wont have one.

Does anyone know which regulation it is that says the lines have to be continous and joined up?

I've seen it on here before somewhere!

If yellow lines had to be continuous and joined up they would stretch the entire length of the uk road network and parking would be prohibited everywhere?

I did mean they have to have a bar at the end of each section (part of the road they're on) but didn't think I needed to state the obvious?!!

go for appeal it wont hurt. plus looking at the photos the road is not clean with leafs in the gutter

I doubt an adjudicator would consider those DYL unclear!

We did see some time ago a judge dismiss the worn holes etc saying 'it is still obviously a dyl'.

Just apply common sense. An adjudicator would. If there's uncertainty, it should go your way. If there isn't, just a techincal argument, it won't.

You cannot get a PCN for parking on double yellow lines the PCN is for parking in a restricted street, the yellow lines are just there to inform you its restricted. The question would then be are the yellow lines clear enough to inform the driver that the street is restricted??
