Santander debt/default help remove it???

Hello

Were too start, my husband had an old bank account with the Abby national and had a very basic visa electron card this card did no t allow you too even spend a penny if u did not have it in your account.

When Santander took over they upgraded the cards too a visa debit card wich was meant too have the same facilities as the electron card. We moved houses changed our address with them and eventually my husband got a letter saying he was over drawn by £127.00 with charges the official amount was for £27.00

My husband was trying too figure out what it was for, we checked his credit report and they have defaulted him, we have no idea why they allowed him too overdrawn in the first place and we are arguing the point with them that we have also never received a default notice from them, my husband has put a notice of correction on his credit file as this is the only thing he has.

I have asked for a copy of the default notice they sent but the complaints department don't have a copy of it as it is from soo long ago nearly 2 years in February ? I am arguing with them over this what do you advise as they have been so unhelpfull? I want this removed urgently

Any help is much appreciated

Thanks

Charlie

If this is a current account then it is unlikely a Default Notice would have been sent out.

I am surprised they havent written advising that you had been overdrawn and that a charge was being made.

I think you might need to write to them and find out, how, with an account that doesnt allow you to go overdrawn that they have chosen to make a payment that permitted this.

Was it a Direct Debit made that there were insufficient funds do you know ?

Suggest you write - head your letter OFFICIAL COMPLAINT and try to find out more about this.

Ok.. KFC is a food outlet isnt it ? You have given over your debit card and Santander have allowed the payment to go through. I think you need to to look at how embarrassed you would have been had the card been rejected !

It does concern me however that you werent advised of charge that was being made for going overdrawn in the first place - did you not receive any statements ?
