Hi looking for a bit of advice.I am about to send some SAR requests out to a number of different organisations where I have accounts with in order to look for an PPI or illegal charges.I am aware that there is a cost for £10.00 for the request. I am going to enclose a postal order to each financial organisation, however my question is , is it OK to leave each postal order blank .The reason for my question is I have had problems in the past for example I have requested a CCA and forgot to put a Ltd on the end of the company name and had the request returned.

I think leaving the payee blank is probably not a good idea. If the PO were to be "lost" someone else could cash it.

IMHO, if they have returned a request simply because you forgot to put "Ltd" on the end, that is an obvious stalling tactic. They could add that themselves. Plonkers.

Suggest you make every attempt to make sure the company name is correct.. but do put the name of the payee..

If you are having problems with company names - just ask on your thread and someone will know for sure :)

I would also suggest, if you can, either take a photocopy or scan of the postal order before enclosing it with your request and keep it with your paperwork :)

There is a new telephone number for checking if POs have been cashed.

Find out the correct name of the company concerned (using the ICO or Companies House websites if necessary). The big banks have obvious names anyway, such as Barclays Bank plc. Don't leave it blank because that's about as secure as putting an actual tenner in the post.

Note on a very recent sar i sent. The bank i sent it to refused it as i didnt sign the sar letter and asked for copy of driving license. I did sign a copy of a bank statement with the letter. They also sent back postal order so i signed letter, sent license copy along with original postal order and sent recorded. They the wrote and said they got sar letter BUT no payment or copy license. Stalling tactic of which i was advised to report to the ico. I wrote to the bank with screenshot of the recorded delivery signature saying they have indeed hav signed for payment and they have already dragged out over 30 days. So always recorded.

If i help feel free to click star on my post. cheers
