I had a loan with wonga about 18 months ago and entered a repayment to pay them back over 12 months. Come the 11th month I got an email saying that my last payment was late (even tho it was 5 days before it was due )and so the arrangement was cancelled. Anyway I paid the amount regardless and heard nothing until just before Christmas from Gothia. I explained that I had paid all that was owing on the account and they should take it up with wonga. He relied that wonga had sold them the debt which stands at about £450. This amount must be the charges ect as the loan and onemonths interest has been paid

I have now had a letter from IQOR threatening a doorstep visit? How do I proceed now? Haven't I now satisfied the loanor can IQOR come afterme for the charges and additional interest?

Help please!!

Do you have anything in writing regarding the arrangement to pay back over 12 months and the dates payments were due ? If you have stuck to the arrangement then they cannot now claim additional fees and interest.

Complain to the OFT and Trading Standards, they are doing an in depth investigation on payday loan companies. Your complaint could be vital in getting heavy legislation in place against these companies.

using multiple agencies to collect a debt which is not even owed is the basis of your complaint.

IQOR have no powers and can be told to get lost. They are a third party collection agency who like to make people think they are more powerful than they actually are.

They can be told to go away and not darken your doorstep quite easily. If they protest tell them you are contacting the police and letting them know somebody is demanding money with menaces from you.

Hi- take a photocopy of the Wonga email regarding the arrangement you had and also copy the proof of all the payments (make sure your bank account number and sort code are NOT shown anywhere). Send a letter to Iqor by recorded delivery stating you had an arrangement with Wonga to pay £XXX by instalments of £XXX per month which as the affixed documents show, has been paid in line with the agreement. Therefore you do not owe any monies to either Iqor or Wonga.

  • 1 year later...

DCAs have no more power than your neighbour's cat to threaten you. Always report them to the Office of Fair Trading and do not pay them a penny. As for Wronga and other such loan sharks, their very existence is an affront to natural justice. In the highly unlikely event of such a company issuing legal proceedings, it would be very interesting to see what a district judge makes of their exorbitant, some would say, exploitative, interest rates.
