I'm working out whether or not to get involved with this company?

I run a b2b telecom management service, I want to break into the residential market but keep that business completely separate from what i'm doing at present. I want to run door to door teams selling uw products, does anyone know if I need a licence to do this or can I just get the reps to sign them up using my membership details.

I'm not bothered about the sign up money as i will probably have to use all that and some to pay the reps, It's the residual income i'm interested in!

Can anyone give me some idea of what i could expect to make in residuals if i have 2 reps selling 15 customers a week each having a min of 3 services from me, i.e. 30 customers a week each spending £100 a month on products. lets say we do that for 6 months therfore 780 customers??? can anyone help me do the math???

Cheers!!!!

I have been with the company for ten years, so can answer any questions you may have. You can do what you are suggesting but you will need to go on training first and get the legalities sorted out (all part of the training). I can't help feeling that you have not quite got to grips with how UW works though. Maybe you have seen our DVD? If you go to the link at the side of the online video you will be sent an email pack which gives you all the detail you need. The video is here [EDITED]

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

The secret of success if you are working for yourself is first of all to do something you are good at,and secondly knowing your markets and competition so that you can take them head on and better them.

If you are coming here and asking how that can be achieved-then you obviously have not done your homework.

Go and research and plan your strat-no one can do that for you .

I'm a UW distributor - I reckon on an average £3pm per customer - it's nearer 1 for just an energy customer, nearer £4, even £5 for someone with phone and broadband too.

Don't see any reason to stay well clear - they are regulated just like every other utility and telecoms provider and as a company they have no debt.

I have had extreemly bad service from Utilities Warehouse - being mis-sold products from their customer services centre and very very bad after saled service. They are just looking at ways of charging customers -even when they don't provide the right services! - I'd stay clear of them and try and find a company who wants to retain customers by treating them fairly and providing the correct services that they require.

Don't touch them with a barge pole. I have just resigned as a Distributor for them after about a year and also cancelled my membership as a customer. In just one year they have moved the goal posts for gaining customers and even expect distributors to get a £200 upfront deposit for electricity and gas customers who are in rented accommodation! They increased the cost of my electricity by 33% after the first year. Whilst cancelling my membership over the telephone the customer service advisor rudely switched me over to an automated service thereby effectively cutting me off. I think they are a ruthless company who aim to brainwash their distributors to work extremely hard for "pennies" and would even liken them to being "bullies". They have received a lot of money from me, making the measly amount of commission I received to be insignificant.

Sorry to hear youve had such a bad time reevesey. Makes me worry what their customer services actually is when they alieanate their own reps. A lot of the problems seem to be this system of estimated usage when first join and then customers getting a shock. I notice the bullies comment you also say and have to agree from some of the behaviour of uw reps posting in response to customer issues.

I can't say much positive for their tactics. Let me put it this way - get into debt on your utilities and they will chop you off without qualm.

Worst I've seen (due to my job, i see a lot of this stuff) was UW telling a customer to pay the £1300 they had with them towards the bill, then, because they were £50 or so short, they were going to disconnect them anyway!

Another time, they wanted £14K in cash to stop the action. Now, the customer was there, he had a credit card, chequebook, CHAPS payment or BACS available, as a business account. Only cleared funds are accepted, so credit card or CHAPS is the usual route for large amounts. Not for UW though. They decided to force the guy to go and get cash. From his bank. And his bank said "Certainly, Sir. But you'll have to come in to your branch with ID." So the poor guy had to drive from Coventry to Gloucester and back, while we waited.

Seriously, any other utility company I know would take a credit or debit card!

They have no debts, and they have no history, and one day, they'll get caught up like BG have recently. And if they end up being dragged through the Coroner's Court, they might learn to behave better.
