Hi Everyone, Merry Christmas too!

This is my first post, so it's quite an occasion for me.

First the background...

My partner had a contract with CPW via direct debit on which they never took the money. Manual payments were made but several were forgotten and around £195 accrued. Conversations were had with CPW and a letter was to be sent explaining the farce but never happened. Eventually Bryan Carter & Co became involved and as a result of 'letting things slide' she now has a CCJ for £332.57 including £90 costs. We discovered this forum too late. Furthermore, the debt is acknowledged by us for about £193 but couldn't get our defense prepared in time.

At this present time I am attempting to pay the court arranged payments of £50 a month but not having much luck. This is where confusion kicks in.

The CAG posts on our friend BC are eye opening so my news won't be new. The judgement from the court specifies a phone number; the message service says "BC & Co". The address is Persimmon House. The BC headed letter from the De Havilland Drive office specifies another number; this is the Fredrickson International office. The letter states at the bottom BC&Co is the trading name of Crellins Carter so I'm confused as to where Fredrickson fits in.

To pay the CCJ, would it be crazy to use the fredpay.com site to get a payment in or wait and speak to the BC& Co office and make a payment direct?

The deadline is 27th Dec and really don't want to have the threat of a bailiff knocking the door.

Any advice on my payment query or even another route to take is welcome.

Hope you can help,

Mirowales.

Here's a little update so far...

Calls on Monday 24th led me nowhere. On Thursday 27th a call to 0870 777 5501 kept me in a queue for 5m23s! Very busy place so soon after Xmas.

I called the Court for advice but was told to 'keep trying'. The nice lady wasn't really bothered as they don't get involved with payment issues.

I hope someone out there has some advice or similar problems to share.

Bryan Frank Carter is shown as a "regulated partner" at Crellins Carter of Queens Road, Weybridge, KT13 9 UW

on the Law Society website. Their phone number is 01932 858833.

Give them a call tomorrow and if they start messing you about consider the following and then make a complaint.

BRYAN CARTER & CO is shown on the same website as being a branch of Crellins Carter at Persimmon House, De Havilland Drive, WEYBRIDGE, Surrey KT13 0NT. That office is staffed by two assistant solicitors and boasts the 0870 telephone number you found as is of course the registered office of Fredrickson Mailing Services Ltd.

Crellins Carter claim to operate "from a single modern office in Weybridge, offering efficient services to upmarket private clients and to small-and-medium-sized businesses and companies".

Who are they trying to kid, eh?

Thanks for the reply, NailPost.

I managed to speak to a chap on the 0870 number on Friday. He picked up the phone quickly and was pleasant. I suppose they would be when giving them money! The whole process was painless too, sort of...

I wonder when they will have his photo added to the Crellins website? Once they find him I suppose!
