Hi I purchased a washing machine just over a year ago. They had to repair it just before the warranty expired and agreed should the same parts break again they would extend the warranty for these parts. They refused to replace whilst original warranty was in place. Needless to say, it has broken again. Can I insist on a refund or replacement now. Also, it has caused damage to clothing? Are they liable?

My friend lives in a small block of flats (all owner-occupied). They each have their own contents insurance, but the building insurance is paid jointly via the service charge. His washing machine has flooded the flat below. Is this something that is covered by their joint building insurance or the contents insurance of the flooded flat? The insurance company wants proof that the machine has been fixed. If the problem occurs again, who is responsible?

Hi Could anyone please advise me, we purchased a new hotpoint washing machine in december 2011 from comet, 9 weeks later on the 15th March it stopped working, so we phoned comet and they said they would send a engineer 7 days later, engineer turned up 7 days later took the top of the machine off and cleverly deduced that the pcb had failed and the part would be in within 10 days and they would phone when its in, 11 days later I phoned comet again to find out where the hell engineer was and they said it will be fixed on the 12th april, so we are with without a machine for a total of 4 weeks so this means taking a load of washing into town each day for a family of 4 (7 mile round trip) + £ 3.00 to wash clothes but most importantly my partner has a brain tumour and needs a lot of care, im not worried about the cost, its time that I cant afford. I was very angered by comets attiutude so I took the washing machine to Taunton (50 mile round trip) and asked them for my money back, they flattly refused, so I went to currys and bought a new machine, would I be within my rights to somehow claim my money back? I no longer need the machine, i found this to be very inconvenient, the machine is not fit for purpose and at 9 weeks old it obviously has an inherrant fault, looking forward to your responses, Many thanks Peter Fletcher.

We started privately renting our current property Aug 2009, we noticed a musty smell in our ensuite bathroom immediately. we tried to contact landlord to no avail. We wrote to her and the letter was returned, this was late 2009. We have still not heard from her so 6 weeks ago our washing machine broke which was her property so we tried calling her again but could not get hold of her. The outsides drains were also blocked so we took action and got environmental health to track her down and get it fixed. The outside drains were fixed immediately by her 2 weeks ago, and she said she would get "her" plumber in to fix washing machine, the musty smell in the ensuite and also our gas boiler needs to be serviced because its been over 18 months since its last service. We are still trying to get her to fix these problems but still to no avail. We finally spoke to her this evening and she has tried to say that it is our responsibility to fix the washing machine, and that we should be grateful that we are paying the cheapest amount of rent in our street.........Tis made me a little mad!!!!!! We have read our contract and it states that all electrical and mechanical goods, fittings and fixtures are the landlords responsibility to maintain and repair. I see this as her breaking our tenancy agreement, and breaking the law by not have our boiler serviced because the certificate has ran out. Where do we go from here? Please HELP!!!!!!!! Tenants are always seemed to be the ones that are unfairly treated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
