  1. Hello to you all I have been reading and digging out numerous threads on RBS and how I can request for a overdraft charge sheet from years back. I was wondering what exactly should be the wording of the letter and what I should be looking out for in the details of the sheets they send me, this is regarding what I can and can't claim back. Many thanks.
  2. Good morning, I had a bank account with natwest bank. I have recently noticed on my credit file that the account defaulted on the 31/10/2011 for £831. I have now spoken with natwest and they informed that i was £1.41 in credit and a payment of £20 tried to leave my account. Because there was not enough funds i have accumulated this £831 in unarranged overdraft fees. They have offered me an offer of £332 to settle the balance. Now i am at a crossroad as this is affecting me getting a mortgage but i do not want to pay this amount.
  3. I'm a young person who's quite new to a lot of the world of adults. Long story short, due to some ignorance and bad financial management on my part, i have realised after losing my job, That i am currently -£600 in an arranged overdraft with a further £70ish in unarranged overdraft I have recently checked over my last months statement and i will have a further £150 deducted from my account on the 4th of OCT which seems to be from using my debit card when i didn't have an available balance to use. This would put it at -£220 unarranged overdraft This is my only bank account and remember recently there was a letter about changes to unarranged overdraft fees. I am seriously worried about this debt snowballing out of control and i am unsure of what steps to take from here? In regards to the things i didn't keep track of and the things i was ignorant of, i have now learnt my lesson. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi Guys, hopefully can get some advice on an issue I have with Santander at the moment. I have a Current Account with Santander at the moment, which had a £20 fee applied last month for being over my limit ( I dont have an overdraft, it went straight over into unarranged overdraft). I called Santander and they looked at my account, and agreed that indeed the £20 had been incorrectly penalised on my account, and refunded it. This was because im currently abroad, and the bank had incorrectly charged me 2 times for a cash withdrawl from an ATM, which resulted in me going into unauthorised overdraft. However, due to this £20 fee, I was in my unarranged overdraft for another 15 days, which totals up to another £75 in charges. This was then deducted from my account a few days ago. Im currently working in a remote village with disadvantaged children abroad, and checking my bank statements online can be a difficult task so I didnt realise there was an issue until now. I called Santander to ask them why they had deducted the £75. If they had not applied the £20 charge, I would not have been in my unarranged overdraft, and therefore would not have been charged. They admitted to a system error with the £20, and therefore it was their fault I have been in another unarraged overdraft. The woman told me that I should have checked my account and contacted them earlier and that the sum of money was now large and they would not be refunding it... Now I will be in a never-ending spiral of charges, as I currently live abroad and the money that goes into my Santander account is gone the same day it is paid due to bills and rent. Therefor I will be stuck for 15-25 days in unarranged overdraft. Do I have the right to get these charges refunded by Santander, due to the fact the £20 charge they admitted was incorrect was the cause for my other unarranged overdraft days? Also, my salary is only £400 a month at the moment, and their charges are causing me serious financial hardship. Can this be used in my favour also? Thanks
  5. Hi everyone, My Lloyds TSB account was in perfect standing order 8 months ago until i couldn't pay for a bill that was debited from my account (was a payday loan of £200+). I have no overdraft with Lloyds and i tried to get one with them several times before but kept getting declined, so what gives them the god given right to provide me with an unarranged overdraft to cover the payment, then charge me £10 a day for it? My Lloyds TSB account was sitting at £0.00 with no overdraft facility, now 8 months down the line i'm -£970.00 because of them providing me with these unplanned overdrafts and all the charges included. I've tried to arrange 3 different repayment plans with them but i failed all 3 times, i'm now in a 4th one and they said it will be the last, i'm not going to be able to stick to this one either. Does anyone know of a good letter to send them to let them know i'll be disputing the account so they should keep the account on hold without any interest until the dispute is resolved? This debt has forced me to seek credit elsewhere to pay for other bills and has got me in a further mess! Thanks
