  1. gI have also recently received a letter from MBNA regarding the same thing.g In this letter they say,.. " You could now receive some money back if we took a high level of commission on your PPI policy but did not tell you this when you bought it. A high level of commission typically means it was over half what you paid for the policy. Generally we do not tell PPI customers about our commission at the point of sale, as we were not required to ". Interestingly the reply address they give begins with........MBNA Plevin Proactive. Unlike Welcome they include a form to be completed.
  2. I check the mail for a friend who as been out of the country for some months, as is his motorcycle. He has recently been issued with a Charge Notice by Highview Parking at a Tesco. It states his vehicle is a white BMW with an 08 registration. These details and the Model stated are correct for his motorcycle. The Charge Notice gives photos of a car, an estate car, a dark blue Volvo, with an 06 registration - all other digits are the same. Clearly a "Robo" Charge for which no one at Highview has even bothered to look at their 'evidence' in their eagerness to gather cash and alienate Tesco from their potential customers, having obtained DVLA data without justification or proper reason. How best to deal with this for maximum discomfort for Highview/Tesco - and DVLA?
  3. Hi, All the debts are credit card debts. Had an offer of 85% off a £10914 debt owned by Equi Debt but didn't have the money, think they sold the debt on to Cabot. That was 4 years ago, Can these people take me to court & get a CCJ against me? Also an offer of 25% off from Allied International
  4. Hi all. I have today received a letter from Canada Square operations re 'You can make a new type of complaint about your PPI'. It goes on to say that 'You complained to us previously about our sale of your Payment Protection Insurance policy. We rejecetd your complaint because your policy was not mis-sold'. I have no recollection of making this complaint. Just double checking this is legit? Has anyone else received similar? Thanks all.
  5. Hi, First the details of the alleged 'offence'... 1 Date of the infringement - 01/07/2017 2 Date on the NTK [this must have been received within 14 days from the 'offence' date] - 21/07/2017 (20 days after the 'event') 3 Date received - 23/07/2017 4 Does the NTK mention schedule 4 of The Protections of Freedoms Act 2012? [y/n?] - Yes 5 Is there any photographic evidence of the event? - Yes, images of the vehicle entering and leaving the car park 6 Have you appealed? {y/n?] post up you appeal] Have you had a response? [Y/N?] post it up - No, thought I'd ask for advice here before doing anything. 7 Who is the parking company? - Parking Eye 8. Where exactly [carpark name and town] - Premier Inn, Deansgate Locks, Manchester For either option, does it say which appeals body they operate under. - The notice only mentions POPLA in respect to appeals but it says they are a member of BPA. My son and daughter-in-law used this car park and my son paid for a ticket for considerably longer than the time they actually parked for. He can't remember the exact period he paid for (and they've lost the ticket), but as they were going to an event they didn't expect to finish until after 10pm, he knows it was for considerably longer than the time they spent there. Having said that, the Parking Charge Notice/Invoice makes no mention of why the charge has been issued, we're just assuming it's for staying too long. Is it normal that the 'offence' isn't mentioned on these charge notices? If it is, how is someone meant to appeal or defend themselves against an unspecified transgression? I've read in other CAG posts that these notices must be received within 14 days of the alleged 'offence' (it's termed an 'event' on Parking Eye's invoice) - does that apply in this case as well because it turned up 22 days later and was issued 20 days after the event? I've attached a copy of the PCN as a file - can't seem to figure out how to add it as an image like others on here are doing, hope that's not a problem. Can anyone suggest the best course of action to take? Many thanks Parking-Lie.pdf
  6. The snoopers charter which ALREADY allows the most extensive spying on its own citizens outside of China or North Korea (and possible actually worse given the higher levels of connectivity here) is intended to be increased by the Tories. Much of the justification is these 1 man in a van attacks which horrendous as they are, are no more than occurs on a daily basis in most major cities by alcohol or mentally ill people. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/19/technology/britain-encryption-privacy-hate-speech.html?ribbon-ad-idx=15&rref=world/europe Given that the existing snooping powers in the UK "Recent legislation already gives Britain’s law enforcement officials some of the world’s strongest powers to read and monitor online chatter" have done NOTHING to stop these man in a van or man with a knife attacks, DESPITE a number of them being on international watch listsm it beggars the question of How would increasing these powers actually make a difference given that even the attacks by KNOWN Islamist extremists on UK and international watch lists were not affected in any way ? How is policing and monitoring of those spying on UK citizens going to be carries out and reported and properly policed - including reporting to the public what is occurring or has occurred? http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2016/25/contents/enacted Worth noting: In the US spying on the nations OWN citizens is treated differently to foreign nationals. Do we really want the UK to be the envy of North Korea - for all the wrong reasons?
  7. Got this through the post. Attention grabbing or what ?
  8. I've had a mortgage with the One Account, for a number of years. we got into financial difficulty a few years ago, and had it changed to interest only. They recently contacted us, to say they were concerned that the capital would not be repayed before the end of the term.. (in about 8-10 years) i think. their mortgage consultant, spent some time on the phone with me, and agreed it was in my interests to change to a fixed rate capital and interest . the product would have to come from Nat West, rather than the one account (same group). They wrote to us, to say the mortgage was approved. a few weeks later a company called Optima Legal, wrote to us to say the they could not approve the mortgage because of a 3k restriction (in my name only) - because their client had to have first say on any structure. This is despite a debt of 166k on a house worth 270k - and a restriction of 3k. So.... I have written to one account today, to advise them, that their actions of refusing to put me onto a fixed rate capital and interest loan may disadvantage me in the future, financially. I also, told them, i believe the one account mortgage type was mis-sold to me.. (way back)... anyone have any legal typeish thoughts on this ?
  9. HI. Has anyone sorted out this p0405 code
  10. Not the best of pictures, but for something the size of a fruit fly it's the best I could get. This fly has infested our chimney and they are actually coming out through the open brickwork. It's an old place 1860's and we opened up the fireplace in this ex bedroom and installed a log burner a year ago exposing the natural brickwork. My first thought was there must be a dead bird or squirrel in the chimney, but I had the people who installed the log burner back and got them to check the chimney out and there are no bodies there. As this room is on the top floor (2 story) it's under the attic but I have never ventured up there as the previous owners stuffed it to the gills with insualtion, left the old fibre-glass insulation up there and just opening up the door fills me with itchy shards of fine degrading padding. The chimney is way over the far side of the attic too so it's impossible to get to without the fear I have of sending my leg through the plaster ceiling having missed a beam under this padding. So, having called the council Pest Control department and told they 'don't do' flies, I've called 2 Pest Control Companies who assured me someone would call me back and haven't (obviously got too much work to bother! - good ole English service!) I need to try and find out what these are, and how to get rid of them. Thus far I have lit the burner and heated it to as much as I could bear three times now and it does seem to have cleared many of them, but still they come, not so many now, but they head for the windows for the light I guess but they crawl all over the carpet too. I think they are too small to be flying ants and the short antenna make them differ from fruit flies, so I am relying on the combined knowledge of cag to establish exactly what these gremlins actually are. I looked at sprays but most are highly inflammable and not something I want to introduce to a chimney although we don't use the fire a lot and it is summer so I could chance it. Just be nice to know what they are... The photo is a X30 and was taken on my mobile phone through a kiddies 'bug' telescope gadget, just getting the thing steady to photo was bad enough so sorry for the size. Thoughts please? 11. Hi, newbie here. I'm trying to find information on what makes a bus, a bus. If I have a cat C licence, I can't drive a bus / coach - cat D. If all but 8 seats were removed, would the vehicle still be a bus, or just a heavy vehicle? I can't find any literature regarding this as it seems quite a specific question. I'm thinking that if there are insufficient seats - the vehicle could not be regarded as a psv / pcv... where would i find relevant legislation on the subject? thanx guys, take it easy.
  12. I have received 2 letters through the post containing penalty charge notices for contravention 23 - Parked in parking place or area not designated for that class of vehicle on the same day. Both times I had stopped, in passing, leaving my wife and two children under 4 in the car, very briefly to get supplies from a tesco metro. I have seen on some forums people have had appeals upheld in this location due to the wrong markings on the road but I think this has since been fixed. I am pretty sure I should not have recieved two in the same day. Please could someone advise? I have uploaded pictures of the two PCN's, my tax disk (for vehicle class info) the road markings and signage from the location. I have blurred the name address and reg number for privacy. 14. Hello, I moved property 3 months ago. When I chose this location, there were several factors which were very important to me. 1) A NTL connection had to be available, which the estate agent told me was available, and they even showed me the NTL connection. 2) That there was CCTV around the entire property, which there appears to be by various cameras placed around the property. Since I have moved there, I have found out that: 1) The NTL connection is infact a dummy and does not work. I approached the letting agent about this and got the following response: ********** Response: With regards to the NTL. This is the first ive heard about it. And as far as i am aware if you are in a non serviceable area then NTL would'nt install a connection point. If there is a connection point Joseph would assume like anybody else would, that NTL would supply a connection there. ********** 2) The CCTV camera's are ALSO dummies... I also approached them about this and they came back with the following: ********** Response: With regard to the CCTV this would be down to the Managment Company (SLM) TEL: 01482 328068. ********** Now why do I feel like I'm being fobbed off here and that the buck is being passed on. What options do I have to sort this out? Also in light of this, can I dispute the £120.00 administration cost which they said was for 'administration and credit checking'? Thanks and Regards Adrian

  19. Ok, I have had a LLoyds account for approx 5 years and also a credit card at the same time. For the bank account we pay £25 per month plus £13 for the interest and £5 for using the agreed overdraft. We owe £2100 on the overdraft and £500 on the credit card. We dont use the account and all the extras that go with it and want to downgrade to a basic account because all the money that we pay in to stop it going higher just keeps it at the same balance. We have managed to get the card balance down but its taking a long time. We have been told that we cant do this until the balance comes down to £500 on the overdraft. its been like this for at least 3 years and all we are doing is treading water. Does anyone have any suggestions?
