  1. Hello, I am in a very difficult situation with Wandsworth council over council tax. This started back last year with when I moved into a shared property with some other people and for some reason the Council tax was put under my name and the name of someone else that didn't live here. The council never sent me a bill or any correspondence until I received a summons for none payment of council tax. At this point I emailed them and explained I live in a shared house with other people and I had not received any bill and the bill should not be in my sole name. I was then informed that someone would look into this and get back to me. The next thing I heard was a Bailiff coming to my door threatening to take my stuff away or I have to pay the full amount plus over 20% of fees on top. I contacted the council again asking about any appeal or the fact that the bill is not solely mine, it took them 2 weeks to reply by email which they told me that I have had the chance to appeal and that they sent me a multiple occupancy form, which they never did. They also told me to contact the Bailiff from now on. The worse thing about this is I suffer from PSTD and extreme bouts of depression and I have recently been laid off because me taking time off because of this situation to go back on medication and into therapy. Before this I had been medication free for over a year. I feel I have been treated most unfairly and all I wanted was the chance to pay the bill in installments and for the bill not to be solely my responsibly. Is there anything I can do? as the situation seems to be getting worse no matter what I try. Thanks!
  2. Hi This is my first time of posting so please bear with me. My daughter, who lives in Cornwall, recently moved house. She is with EE for both her phone and broadband so rang them, giving enough notice, to say that she would be moving on the 28th March. No problem said EE. EE then contacted her to say that her new address didn't exist! As it is the presbytery of a church she found out that the Post Office had it listed under the church but said that they would separate the two. She contacted EE to tell the this and they came back to her to say that it would need a new line put in but that BT couldn't get there until 17th April. When she moved in, she found that the existing line was still active so contacted EE to tell them. They said BT didn't have an active line showing so she offered them the number but they said " it doesn't work like that" On 17th April the BT engineer didn't arrive. When my son-in law phoned BT they said that the engineer had been unable to find the house and that nobody had answered the phone. This might have been because EE ( in spite of having my daughter's mobile no had given BT the landline number which was still connected at her previous address!!! Another visit couldn't be booked until 20th May. I have had my daughter on the phone almost in tears. Yes BT have been and fitted a new line but when she contacted EE today and asked why they still had no broadband, their answer was basically "What broadband it wasn't ordered " She now has to wait until 19th June before her broadband goes live!! When she said that she was paying for a service that she wasn't getting, the person from EE said that she has been compensated. They gave her a £30 reduction on her bill but as she has been without a phone for 8 weeks and will be without broadband for 12 weeks (providing that EE actually get it live on the 19th June) this doesn't cover it. She has also been told that she now has to wait until the broadband goes live before she can apply to get her original number back. (She was told by EE that she would be able to take her number with her) Sorry to have gone on for so long but I can't believe EE's attitude and the fact that they have made the stress of moving even worse!!

  4. Hi All I have found myself in a very stressful situation with an ex landlord and would really appreciate some advice Basically on 31st March 2012 my partner and i signed a short assured tenancy lease with my then landlord, we paid the deposit in cash (£750) and first months rent. All went well from then, landlord responded to issues and repairs etc and when we asked permissions such as connecting sky tv etc we constantly got "yes, do what you want" Fast forward 12 months - The original lease was for 6 months, which we never actually officially renewed, we sort of just carried on paying rent and stayed there for 1 year in total. A day or so after we moved out i contacted the landlord to ask about deposit he said yes, we will check the property and get back to you, i called again 1 week later to be told he is not dealing with it and the person who is is on holiday for 2 weeks ( i have to say he is the landlord on the lease and not through a leting agent, so i was very confused by who the extra people could be) anyway several phonecalls to him and excuse after excuse saying he is not th one responsible and he has written a letter to the person/people who are, i finally called his bluff. I contacted the person he says is responsible who told me, that he owns the building however has let the residential properties to my landlord who can sublet to people (hence why we paid him and he signed the lease) - I told my landlord about this conversation and he got very angry obviously because i now know the truth that he has been lying - he said that he had reports we were smoking in the property and had pets (he said verbally we could have our cat and we don't smoke) so he says we breached lease and as he had to paint and fill pin holes from some pictures on the wall - he is not giving us anything and we will need to take him to court. that was Friday and i now dont know what to do! it is worth saying that i know he did not pay the deposit into a protection scheme and when asked he is not even aware what that is and laughed at me. and there was no inventory for the flat. I know he is going to be as difficult as he can be for no reason. Thanks and sorry for the essay. HP
