  1. So I've been hit with these because I get tax credits. Stupid me didn't realise it's only if you get child tax credits you get free scripts, (I only get working). Should have read the form properly I know but there we go. I've called them and they will extend the payment dates but there's no way I'll be able to meet their demands, (approx £50 a month). I am able to offer £20 a month. Will they still be able to enforce a DEA if I am offering to make reasonable payments?
  2. Hi i want to request medical records from both my local NHS Trust and my GP. Would this result in two different charges or can you relate them in some way to make it all one request? Many thanks.
  3. Hey Guys I've been dealing with Jacobs more than once, a few months ago I cleared a debt of around £800 with them - this was for a previous address in my name. I was paying £50 per week each week and I finally had to clear around £350 up front for one missed payment. I did sign paperwork on this address and I told them some of the items I had but never let them in - to my knowledge this was still valid for them. I now have a separate account with them, completely different address and town with my ex-fiance's name also on the debt. I've mentioned this to her (as she's moved) but she's unwilling to help and I realise that Jacobs wouldn't care as long as they can get to me. Today I received the first hand delivered letter "24 Hour Removal" demanding I pay just short of £3,000 up front which I do not have. I am thinking that because this is a separate account they would still need to do inventory and have paperwork signed to be able to forcefully enter this home. When I cleared the previous debt, the agent told me he would call me again to arrange a £25 per week repayment on the new house (but to me it was implied he'd need to visit my home to do this) he never called back. I would like to start making regular payments, but I'm not sure where I stand - I also realise I can do weekly payments to the council after reading a thread here which is something I want to set up as I struggle to pay that when I'm always paying these guys - it just never ends otherwise. Any advice would be appreciated Kind Regards Stephen
  4. Hey all I'm back after a bit of a gap but I am after a bit of advice. You may or may not remember that I had a few issues with council tax arrears. Well I had a bit of a windfall and today have paid them all off along with a HB overpayment. I contacted the relevant councils and have paid them direct. However they are both saying that the accounts were with the bailiffs. The thing is the bailiffs had them listed as 5 separate accounts with 5 separate sets of fees. These fees have not been paid as the council only took what was owing to them. Am I still likely to be chased by Jacobs for fees even though the original debts have been paid in full? If so, are they likely to still chase them as 5 separate accounts? Are they likely to negotiate for maybe 1 set of fees? I only had letters from them, they never appeared at the door in my current address. Or should I just ignore them in the hope they will go away. I know in the past 1 bailiff firm gave up and returned the debt to the council. Are they likely to do this if they get no joy? To clarify, the outstanding amount on the liability orders have been paid direct to the councils. The bailiffs had no part in settling these accounts Thanks
  5. Hi everyone. I am a part time motor trader, and bought a van to sell to a friend. Said friend then decided he didn't want it, and I had to keep the van near my house. Now, I KNOW I am at fault, I parked the van on the road without it being taxed. Long story short, a neighbour reported us. At 5pm on the 17th December, I drove past and saw the van had been clamped, with a DVLA flyer on. The leaflet explained there was a £100 release fee, and I also had to produce a valid tax disk. The following morning at 9am, I taxed the vehicle, and paid a £100 release fee to have the clamp removed. Fast forward to earlier this week, I received a letter from the DVLA, stating that said van was seen and reported at 15.59 on 17/12/2013, as being kept on a road whilst unlicensed. "This remains an offence even if the vehicle is subsequently licensed. This is separate to the fees paid to the Agency's wheel-clamping contractors who clamped/impounded the vehicle." I now need to fill in a form giving information as to who was keeping the vehicle at the said time. "Failure to provide this information is an offence and a court may impose a maximum fine of £1000, if you do not supply the information requested." There is no indication on the letter as to how much the fine will be. There was no reference when the van was clamped, that the £100 release fee wasn't the end of the story. Apparently, the clamp wasn't the full punishment. I called 2 DVLA numbers, to be told that no one can explain anything about the situation to me, nor help me with my query whatsoever. "You have 2 options, pay the fine, or appeal." When I asked how much the fine would be, no one knew, and I just had the previous sentence repeated to me. Can someone explain my rights to me please? Or someone who has gone through this themselves. I was punished by the clamp. I paid £100 to have it released. How on Earth am I know being asked for more money? Thank you.
  6. Hello, we all have a separate contract with the landlord. The council tax says that he is liable to pay however, one of the clauses in the contract is : "You must pay for all electricity, gas and phone bills, water charges and Council Tax relating to the property that apply during the period of the tenancy." I would like to know if this clause overrides what the Council said. Initially, my landlord kinda tried to get me to pay the tax for the next year as well (I am only living there as a non-student for 12 months). I am not a student. I live with two students. One of them stopped being a student and moved out messing up with the discount one receives from the Council since he stopped being a student. I do not want to pay the council tax and if I have to pay, I don't want to pay an extra 200 pounds.
