  1. Hi all, My husband and I have been given 2 months notice to find somewhere else to live by our landlord, as they want to sell the house. We've applied for a house we like through an estate agents - we've applied in both our names and paid £42 each for the credit check. My question is, well more of a concern really... we both have a REALLY bad credit score, we are in debt to multiple credit card companies etc though we have very recently put repayment arrangements in place with them. I have a CCJ but I made the estate agent aware of this and they cleared it with the landlord of the property we've applied for. She doesn't have a problem with it. So what I'd like to know is - is the credit check done to check our credit score? Or just to check that we don't have any CCJ's or other things that we didn't declare in our application? Thanks
  2. hi everyone, reading your posts and advising some other people i decided that advice was perfect it was to get my credit report free and then try to get on the right path to becoming debt free. i have small little debts few hundred here and there from when i was young 18-19 that id like to clear off now i have children and a home so i can obtain credit in the future if needs must or mortgages etc. started off excited and posotive ended up really upset. i have put my correct details into every agency offering free credit reports and they claim to not be able to verify my identity. what am i supposed to do now. some of these debts i cant even remember i just know i wont have paid them i had a store card i know at some point spent £114 and another catalouge account i spent £110 i remember that but not who....... i really want to start to pay off these little debts so i can owe nothing and improve my credit rating for the future.
  3. Hi all, if i go to a credit scoring company such as, experian, will this make way for other debt collection firms to find me. Not that i'm trying to hide, got a debt management in place but dont want any surprises, Cheers
  4. Hi there - I'm a bit intrigued by the way agencies calculate credit scores in that I've never defaulted, always paid on time and no other potential black marks. I do have a loan which has two years to run and 2 credit cards but as I said all up to date. Now Noddle puts my score at 3/5 which seems average but equifax gives me an excellent score of 510. I realise the numbers mean nothing but how can I be excellent and average?
