  1. I rent a small space in a privately run market area. Rent is paid by direct debit and is paid weekly. This week the rent was taken twice. I have received an email from the owners acknowledging the mistake and stating the money will be returned to my account but that it could take up to 5 days to show up. My question is, is this a normal time period for waiting for monies to be refunded? I understand that they bank with Barclays. Here is the text of the email sent: Due to an error, an incorrect Direct Debit was applied to your account on 24/01/17. Any money that may have been taken incorrectly from your account will be reimbursed from tomorrow, this may take anything up to 5 working day to be active in your account.
  2. Hi all - hoping someone can give me some guidance. Back in June, I withdrew £200 in cash from my Credit Card as my daughter was going away and urgently needed funds. She agreed to pay me back when the statement came in the following month. So, she paid the £200 back in July directly to my credit card and we have since fallen out - basically over her lifestyle and dishonesty pertaining to it. Anyway, the upshot is, Vanquis have reversed the payment this month and debited the account as she has disputed the transaction saying that she doesn't recognise the payment. I'm not sure I can do anything about this at all but thought I'd check with you knowledgeable lot for any ideas! I would mention that my credit card and her bank card both have the same surname and at the time, I think, the same address. Looking forward to people's thoughts - thank you
  3. A couple of days ago, I moved over to another tariff with my existing provider nPower. The fuels are split and I'm on different tariffs for gas and electric. Gas ending in December 2017 and Electric ending in October 2018. As a result, my monthly direct debit has now dropped to £55 a month down from £69. I went on my nPower app today and noticed that they have reversed the last 8 bills and have left my in credit to the tune of over £900. Before I get knee deep in (recorded) phone calls to them, is there anything I need to know or am I on the cusp of what seems a typical nPower mishandled situation ? I want to be fully armed with as much information as possible before I make the first phone call. Hopefully it will be something or nothing but just in case...
