  1. I have browsed around for quite a while and cannot find where this should be posted, but as I have several disabilities, maybe a moderator could move it to the correct sub-forum if this is the wrong place? The internet is full of stories of burglars, con men and thieves posing as police in order to gain unlawful access to a property. But do any of the experts here have any information on private companies subcontracted by local Council authorities doing the same? IE, sound like they are banging down the door of a vulnerable (or fully fit) person's home and saying they are Metropolitan Police (in plain clothes, of course) responding to a 999 report of a burglary, two men were seen entering "the property". What? You mean my home? Burglars? Entering through the undamaged and locked door you were just trying to kick down? What are they, ghosts? So, now it's can they come in and look around and check I am not being held hostage! And do I have any ID to prove who I am? And do I live alone? But no warrant cards or ID from them, of course. No! You bloody well can't! Now, I'd have thought uniformed police would attend a burglary report. And I don't think this behaviour would be written down in the Policies and Procedures or SOPs of any Local Authority. But a private firm sub-contracted by the Council, say to conduct random tenancy fraud investigations, or to determine if I live alone for my 25% Council Tax discount, very well might use such underhand tactics. I had returned the council tax discount form the previous week. I have had no letters from the Council's housing management team about my tenancy and proposed relocation for almost a year and no one wrote or 'phoned to make an appointment. I have no debts and I pay monthly in advance by standing order. Has anyone ever heard of this sort of thing recently? Many Thanks
  2. Hi all , just a quick message to all about this company called PC Protect... They telephoned my elderly mum at 8 am one morning recently and led her to believe they were talk talk. The worst bit is that they told her they were going to drop her broadband bill by a few quid, (broadband is free from talktalk). Long story short they had her bank details and set up a direct debit for 30 quid a month for PC Protect, they have a website, they even have a company number which is registered as :08958993, their office phone number is 03335771999 don't bother trying to ring it they it goes dead on the line after two rings/........... My research I have done shows them as a relatively new company, 5 months old and its run by Daniel and Sam Young, sales director Gareth Knapp. This would seem a sales tactic they use and please please anyone whom has elderly relatives or vulnerable whom use talk talk then warn them of it. Talktalk have assured me on the phone they DO NOT call about payments or money matters over phone at all and only in writing...... Wouldn't like to say on here what I would like to do with them , direct debit had been cancelled now and waiting for them to phone again which apparently they do demanding money owed ....... Also they are based in UK it would seem........Unit d4, Terrace road, Bournmouth, Dorset. EH2 5NP..... Beware they are acting in a manner that is misleading and im pretty sure against quite a few regulations and rules of certain acts ect..... Anyone else have any issues with them let us all know please......
  3. Has anyone ever came across anything like this before? Today I recieved an email from queries@littlewoods.com, which is the real littlewoods email address. Here is what it said There was an attachment on it that I assume asks for all my banking details and such, that I did not open. Now, I am used to getting stuff like this from spammers, but NEVER an official company email like this. I have forwarded this onto halifax and they advised me to delete the email aswell, but I'm not sure if I should? If I do I will have no proof further down the line if I should need it that littlewoods actually tried to hack my online banking :/
