  1. Hi, After some advice, I unfortunately took out a greenwood personal loan in 2011, The agent filled in the paper work, I signed it and that was it i had the cash given to me there and then. After a few weeks the agent stopped turning up, I called number on the card to state that he had not turned up, they informed me he was under investigation and another agent would be around to collect my money (They did not take card payments then else i would have paid). No agent showed up for the coming 5 weeks; I called the head office again stating the issue and they said that as soon as a new agent is appointed to the area they will be around to collect. (During this time, i had kept the money i was due to pay back). No Agent ever showed, the next thing i know i have a default added to my credit file. Start date: 29/10/2011 Default Date registered: 13/01/2012 I called the customer service department to ask why this had been added given the situation, they explained that they had sent letters to me about the overdue amount, and as i had not responded issued a default. I contested that i had never received such letters etc, It transpires that the 'actual' paper work that was sent off to the office had a false address on it (I live in Cornwall, the paper work had a Devon address on it - which i have never lived at). I had explained that this was false, the customer service agent could not understand why this address was there, or why the agent had set up a loan outside of his 'area' and passed it on to the 'regional manager'. The manager was less than useless; however I had the full balance to pay him as i wanted to get this sorted. Greenwood have stopped correspondence with myself in relation to rectifying the issue. Thankfully, im a little anal about paperwork and I have the following: - original contact. which i have supplied to greenwood (They have dismissed it saying this does not match theirs. ). - A copy of the statement i gave to the regional manager. - Receipt for final payment. - List of all calls made to them (BT Supplied me with this). The only thing i do not have is a "Request to call" which apparently is required by doorstep lenders? (Never signed one) I've asked them that they update there records, as i believe that the default was added in error, they are refusing because "they are within there rights to update CRA about defaulted accounts" So my question is, Where do i go from here as this has been going on to long and i feel they should have resolved this in that time.
  2. Hi Both my husband and I have loans with Provident and Greenwood. These have been topped up over the past couple of years and are now at a silly amount. Generally I don't ask for the loans, they text me and say that they can do me an extra £xx. I know that it's our own fault getting into this, but when you don't have money to pay bills it's very easy to take what's offered. I've NEVER seen our payment books, but I know that the payments are being made against the accounts as I write a cheque each week. Anyway, it's now to the point where we are unable to pay our priority debts (mortgage, council tax, secured loan, etc) as I'm making these payments to Provident and Greenwood. Basically, I want to write to them (I'll use a template letter) and offer them a token payment. Our credit rating is shot anyway, so that's not really a concern. Do Provident / Greenwood allow reduced payments? our weekly payments (together) come to £246, and I'm going to offer them £5.00 as that's basically all I can afford. When the loans were took out they lumped our income in together with what we get on Tax Credits, Child Benefit and the DLA that we get for my son. I'm hoping to do this today, so any help would be most appreciated. Thanks
  3. So it looks like my other half has received a fairly standard Transcom letter on behalf of Motormile. My instinct was to fire off a 'prove it' letter, but I'd just thought I'd ask you guys 'n' girls your opinion in case different actions may be better. Anyway, here's a synopsis of the letter: re: Motormile Finance UK Ltd A/C No: xxxxxxxxx Quote ref: xxxxxxx Amount due: £xxxx.xx Banner: RECEIPT OF PAYMENT Dear Miss (old married name) With effect from 18th September 2012, BCW Group Ltd sold the above detailed account to our client Motormile Finance UK Ltd [MMF]. We have been instructed by Motormile Finance UK Ltd to collect the outstanding balance. The balance outstanding under the agreement is £xxxx.xx. It will now be reported to and recorded by the credit reference agencies as a debt which is outstanding to Motormile and not as a debt which is outstanding to Greenwood. Motormile Finance has appointed Transcom Worldwide UK Ltd to administer you account on their behalf. You should now make payments under the agreement by calling us on 0844 7422064. Our client will accept a suitable repayment plan, if you are experiencing financial difficulties please contact us immediately for assistance. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the ownership or administration of your credit agreement, please contact us, as above. Your sincerely Generic Squiggle So, I gave the other half a good grilling after doing some research on what this alleged debt might be, as she has had some outstanding bills when I met her. She remembered that she had had a 'payday' type loan a few years back when she lived somewere else (a few houses back), but not with any of the companies listed in the letter. This was a weekly doorstep type collection loan, and she informed the agent in writing when she moved. She thinks she had paid it off but can't be 100%sure, and won't have any paperwork. The timescale is around 2005-2006, and as far as she can remember the last contact she had was around Christmas 2006. Questions: 1) as the timescale is around the 6 year mark I am hesitant to fire off a 'prove it' letter... but rather hang out for a couple of months just to get some clear air. Good idea....? 2) what exactly defines the 6 year period....? Would a standard 'prove it' letter and the ensuing communications, using the wording available on this site, restart the 6 year period (if liability was not admited obviously)...? 3) if a debt really has previously been reported to the CRAs (as Greenwood), she wouldn't have been able to get a credit card recently would she...? Cheers for the assistance people Rich
  4. Hi all, could any one tell me if greenwood are closed down? I was interested in applying with them but it says page not found everytime I attempt to do so. Thank you
  5. Hi, Hope someone can help me! I took out a loan last year from Greenwood's for my mum at her address (which I have never lived at!) The agent was aware the loan was not for me but still allowed it to be processed despite my mum getting 1 at the same time. I recently received a letter from a debt company stating I owed £700. I contacted them saying I had never lived at the address stated on the letter and so they passed the debt back to Greenwoods (it was only after I clicked on which bill it would be!) I contacted Greenwoods to see if there was anything to do regarding the debt as although I had signed the agreement it was my mum's bill, they said because I had signed they couldn't do anything. I have never lived at the address the loan was taken out at so therefore had no ID/bills etc with that address on, I am now wondering if that could be used in my defense. Do you not need proof of residency to take out a loan? I am aware they are legalised shark loans and angry at my mum for letting this get this far, i'm trying to work up my credit rating to get a mortgage and this won't help! Please Help!!
  6. Have contacted Greenwood's who stated to take out a loan proof of address is required. I took a loan out for my parents at their address and was not asked and didn't provide proof of address as I have never lived at their address. Could somebody point me in the direction to begin process of having name of debt changed or removed as clearly they have not kept to their own `rules` or am I still stuck with this debt despite this error as I did sign the paperwork?
  7. hi, have an outstanding amount of over £1500 from greenwood personal credit, home collection loan, now passed to buchanan clark & wells, i emailed to say i have serious illness and now disabled and they would get £2 per month as all our other creditors are getting with the help form payplan, BCW have written back they require evidence of medical condition, i know its probably easier to just give it to them, but are they entitled to it? do i HAVE to comply? a ny info or help would be most grateful, also no point cca BCW is there as greenwood would def have a signed agreement? alot of the amount owing i think is interest on the loan.
