  1. Hi All, Back in January 2015 my wife bought a car from CARSHOP, she took out their finance with Santander Consumer. While in the office with the Finance manager of Carshop she filled in all the forms and handed them to him. He entered them onto his system to get approval. After a little while he said that the finance company had come back and that it would only be approved if GAP and a Warranty was taken out, in his words 'to protect them'. Now this warranty and GAP insurance totals £1100 and went onto the finance. After reading about 'Forced Warranty' it seems that it is a problem in the USA but I can only find one incident, with Carshop, on the internet. A few questions, is this legal, can we reclaim for miss-selling and how. Many Thanks
  2. I am just in the process of trying to get a pro rata refund of my Carshop RAC Warranty. It states in the T&Cs that a pro rata refund will be considered if the car is written off. My car was written off 9 months into a 36 month RAC warranty. The Carshop have said that they will cancel my RAC warranty and have sent me a cheque for just over £170. In my opinion £170 pro rata refund for a £699 warranty after only 9 of the 36 months used is not quite adding up in my opinion. Can anybody please give me some advice on what I should do next as I am getting nowhereby various pillar to post telephone conversations. I have told the Carshop that I do not intend accepting the cheque for £170 and I have not cashed it for that reason. Many thanks in advance.
  3. Hi I'm new to this, the query concerns a car bought from Carshop, Cardiff. The car in question is a Renault Megane and a heap of cr*p but apart from being vastly overpriced, the car's not the issue. The agreement was £8000 for the car, £2000 for insurance making a total of £10000. The loan is in my mother's name although the car is my daughter's. My Mum died at the beginning of February without leaving a will. My daughter is convinced the agreement was a loan, not car finance so we're hoping above hope that this insurance pays off the balance of the loan. This is what my mother was lead to believe, given her age at the time the loan was taken out. Not having the documents in front of me, I can't read through the small print so I'm hoping that anyone else who's had a similar loan with insurance from Black Horse would be able to let me know if, indeed, it will repay the loan otherwise my daughter stands to lose her car Also, I think I read elsewhere on this site that if it's a personal loan and doesn't mention the car in the wording then the car can be sold on...I'm hoping this is the case as my daughter wants shot of it asap. Thanks in advance
