  1. Hi all Need some help Just received a PPI refund offer from Barclaycard. PPI began on 4th Nov 1999 and ended on 7th Nov 2000. The account is now closed. barclaycard dont have any statements etc from this time so have estimated the refund based on average figures. The offer below is based on "average amounts we would refund someone who was sold a comparable policy on a credit card held for a similar time period" Refund of Payments made for PPI cover charged on a comparable policy £240.55 Refund of interest charged on PPI Premiums charged on a comparable policy £126.28 Statutory Compensation £155.17 Income Tax Deduction £31.03 Total Refund £490.97 So, does that sound right? Or can i add interest? if I can, is it simple or compound? is it 8% or circa 24.9% which I think was the rate charged by Barclaycard. I have looked on the forums and googled this but have lots of differing answers and opinions but would really appreciate something definitive. I remember the card limit being £2500-2700 and I would have been close to that most months Thanks for the help Sausage
  2. Hi all, I've an old egg credit card that has been in default since June 2007. I've heard nothing about this for years until very recently when I received a letter from Marlin demanding payment. Having read through the related posts on the forum I'm a little confused about my best course of action. The debt is so close to being statute barred that I'm concerned that if I do anything I risk resetting the time clock on it. On the other hand, I don't fancy being taken to court if I don't do anything. Also, the letter I received was to my old address (my parent's place). Marlin don't have my new address yet. Does this have any bearing? So far my plan is: a) Send Marlin a prove it letter and waiting for a reply b) Then send them a CCA request letter and take it from there Does this seem like the right approach? Any other suggestions? Thanks, Jack
  3. just over 4 years agao I was diagnosed with cancer followed and to date with serious depression and numerous other illnesses. At the time of diagnose I lost my job but did have PPI on my card which I used at the time . However during the time when PPI (barclaycard Insurance) was paying of my card Barclaycard continued to increase my credit limit instead of freezing my account. At my most depressed I continued using the card and am now up to my eyeballs in debt. With no job and Barclaycard chasing me for payments I really dont know where I stand or even where to turn to. . I have asked Barclaycard to explain why when my account was being paid of my their insurers and it was clear that I was ill and unemployed why they took advantage and kept the account open and kept upping my limit. To date I have no response.Anyone out there know what the legal requirment are on this situation.
