  1. I had arranged a delivery from anyvan instant quote service today for delivering a king size bed+mattress from Birmingham to Lincoln. The company arranged by AnyVan has the address doortodoordeliveries@btconnect.com and always contacted me through phone. Today, I was waiting for the delivery to take place, when I suddenly got a message from the person at the pickup location that the delivery van has gone. The reason was because initially I had put the job as a second floor to second floor delivery since I bought the bed from ebay. At first I didn't complete the transaction, but anyvan immediately called me and told me if I needed any help -I told them I had missing information about the job - I could just pay to fix the price and talk to the delivery people. After all, the bed was in an apartment building at the 17th floor with an elevator. I didn't care to amend the details on the anyvan web site, called the company saying that the bed is in an apartment building. This was done a day ahead of the delivery. Later, the company pulled back without even calling me, saying that I gave incorrect information in the anyvan job post and the reason they cancelled the job was that they didn't have any dismantling tools with them. I find it hard to understand why it is really needed to put information that dismantling is needed to fit a king size bed through a UK size door anyway. However the fact that I actually called the transport company is putting me under a lot of distress. Now that the company does not have any call recording I cannot prove that I did provide them the information. And anyvan has charged me 100 pounds and refusing any refund. Is there anything that can be done? The terms and conditions say that if the delivery cannot be completed because of the company's fault -which is the case I believe in this case - I am entitled to refund. The same terms and conditions document also says that animals cannot be carried with anyvan, whereas ironically their public advertisement tells you can carry a giraffe with anyvan. I am willing to go for a local court for this, is there any chance I have any compensation? After all, they charged me for a service they didn't give.
  2. Hi this is Sandy ( B/C'S other half ) we recently moved and used any van, the guy knew we were moving from a 2 bed semi to another 2 bed semi so he turns up in a small lorry with tail lift and no sack barrow for moving big items, well half way into the move he said he would not be able to get all our items onto the van! We had filled in a form on line stating what we had including garden items, he carried on putting items on the van and I pointed to the garden stuff, he said he was not able to put them onto the van as he was full! Bobcat looked in the van and said it was not packed right ( he is a van driver) and he could have got all our stuff on it. he closed up the van and I said what about the rest of our items > besides the garden items he had left behind 2 boxes upstairs and other items in the lounge! At the new place I questioned him about the boxes he had left in the bedroom and he said he had not seen them! The price for this was £274, and we had to fork out an extra £80 to get the rest of our items ourself as he said he was busy, also he has damaged an antique corner cabinet, which is denying but I have taken photo's of it and shown them to him, all he has said is he will give us £40 The £80 we loaned from my daughter who her self has not got much money, I have contacted the van company several times and also the guy who did the move but not getting any where, so am turning to CAG for advice. Sorry for long post Sandy
