  1. i have just read an interesting article in the Daily Telegraph from the 10th June. a motorist was threatened with Court for doing 85 MPH by a Gatso camera in Staffordshire. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/10/questions-raised-over-accuracy-of-speed-cameras-after-driver-doi/?ref=yfp The case was dropped and the motorist had his legal fees of £2000 reimbursed after it was proved he was only doing 29.5MPH. On being questioned about the huge discrepancy which calls the whole use of speed cameras into question the Police said "This is the only time this type of error, to the best of our knowledge, has not been picked up prior to going to court. This was a one-off individual error." The inference is therefore that these anomalies have been found before but have been spotted before going to Court. The question is how do these errors occur and how many are not spotted and the difference in speeds is not that great that motorists just pay up rather than question the speed camera accuracy
  2. Hello all. I am wanting to move out of my current property where I live with my parents and rent. I am currently receiving JSA but job hunting like crazy. My question is - if I rang the local council, would they be able to give me an accurate idea of what contribution of Housing Benefit I would get if I had a property in mind? The reason I ask is that I need to know if I can afford it or not before I commit myself, I dont want them giving me a maximum/approx contribution only to find it was inaccurate. The online calculators that are on the councils website are completely useless as my parents (who are retired) used the housing benefit calculator and it was way off and now struggle with their rent as a result of this. I know the easiest answer is to ring and find out but I dont really want to waste money on a phone call if its a waste of time. Any help/suggestions? Thanks
  3. I parked by accident in a hire car parking bay at Paddington railway station, I paid for a ticket and returned to a parking ticket for parking in a restricted area. The only issue I have is that the parking charge notice has a field titled Time First Seen. This had the time 11.00am, I was about 50 miles away on the M40 at 11.00am and didnt actually arrive until 12.08. Purchased a ticket at 12.13, the time of issue was 12.46. Is there any point in challenging this ticket purely based on that inaccuracy? I can prove that I was not in London at 11.00am with a petrol station reciept showing that I was actually 85 miles away (1.45 hours drive time) at 10.32am:violin:
