  2. Hi there, I recently left a job due to being blackmailed by my employer. I was sent a letter inviting me to an attendence interview after I was signed off work due to an RTA, this was the first attendence interview I had been inviteed to. I decided to record the interview as I have been in interviews before with my employer and they were uncomfortable and offensive. I have it on tape my employer stating that if I didn't resign any future references would be written in a negative way but if I did resign he would give me a glowing report and make sure I got the job. I was told that he was going to follow the 'process' where I would be dismissed if I didn't resign. He also admits a breach of Health and Safety by saying he didn't have time for me to do a driving assessment which everyone in the company must do. I raised a grievence and my employer says they are not going to use the evidence as he did not know it was being recorded even though it clearly shows him blackmailing me. I was wondering if this evidence could be used if the case goes to an employment Tribunal? Any replies would be greatfully recieved
  3. As already reported in the media over the past couple of weeks a lot of ASDA stores have already got Santa's grotto in place ready for Xmas & have been selling Xmas lines for ages. SWMBO has just come in from work and told me that they are now expecting their delivery of the Easter eggs on Boxing day. She was also given her 'Xmas stocking' from work which contained party packs, nuts etc.
  4. Been reading this Upper Tribunal case > http://www.landstribunal.gov.uk/judgmentfiles/j881/LRX-82-2011.pdf It deals with housing right to buy and service charges issues which may be of interest to some. But what I find most interesting though is the use of 'Estoppel', something that has mystified me somewhat, but here it is put to good use (the freeholder council technically wins but Judge decides the principal of Estoppel overides this (see paragraph 41), this could be useful for anyone involved in legal action who has been told/or lead to assume something which is later denied. 5. Hi all! Not many people use their local butchers any longer, I never used to till I learned a few horrible facts about how bad commercially produced meat is for us, how bad the animals are treated, and how they are pumped with hormones and all sorts of medications because they become so sick living in the terrible conditions and environment they're raised in, which we then eat! So I just wanted to give an example of a comparison for what I bought today from my local dales butchers who only sell local produce of which all is organically fed, outdoor reared, and free range. 4x free range organic duck breasts (which by the way are twice the weight of Sainsburys) £11 1x 1.8kg free range organic chicken £5.18 1x 1.5kg organic boneless lamb shoulder £11 Total: £25.18 If I'd have gone to Sainsburys and bought the same: 4x duck breasts £11.24 (although these are on half price offer, so should be £22.48, and are half the size/weight) 1x 1.75kg free range chicken £10.53 1x 1.45kg shoulder of lamb with bone £10.86 Total cost: £43.87 - but minus the rare offer on the duck breast, would be today £33.59,which is more even though there's a half price offer on the duck breasts, and not forgetting the duck breasts are tiny compared to the butchers. Also, did you know that chicken is usually high in omega3 oils, but ONLY if the chickens are free range, also chickens that are free range have only a fraction of the fat content of those chickens that are not. Those cheap "3 for a tenner" etc you buy from the supermarket have zero omega3 oil content, and they fat content is unbelievable! Free range organic meat is so expensive from the supermarket, but it's not when you use your local butcher, in fact it works out cheaper from your local butcher to buy free range than it does for none free range commercially produced meat from the supermarkets! Treat yourself to good wholesome meat, that you know has had a good life, and has been fed properly without all the drugs and misery the supermarket regular meats have endured, at less than the price! Trust me, you will never have tasted anything like it, nothing compares! I now know why people say this thing and that thing "tastes like chicken", because the cheap "3 for a tenner" etc from the supermarket don't taste of real chicken, in fact they're tasteless by comparison, if you were to get a free range organic one from a butchers, you would be able to tell, and will actually know what proper chicken tastes like! Just the chickens bone alone is stronger, you can tell they've been good strong, well fed birds that have had a good life, in comparison to the weak sickly ones who live crammed in a barn, with nothing else to do other than eat and crap on eat other! If we all did this, supermarkets would have no choice but to lower the price of free range, outdoor reared organic meat produce - thus putting a stop to the commercially reared meat produce, that not only is not good for us, but also is a terrible life for the animals that end up on our plates!
  6. I'm hoping that this is the correct forum, apologies if it is not! My wife works as a carer using her own vehicle to visit her employer's clients in their own homes - for this she is paid .35p per mile (the remaining.10p per mile is claimed via MAR) this is the current allowance and that is fair and well. The part that I disagree with is that my wife's employers state that "you may be paid a mileage allowance, if and when applicable, if you are required to work outside a two mile radius of the offices town whilst visiting clients on business", bearing in mind that approximately 60% of her calls are within the town and 40% are outside of the 'two mile radius' I think this is unjust and certainly unfair. I appreciate that she cannot claim the travel from home to her first client or to the office and likewise for her return home journey but I feel she is being taken for a fool and is forced not to be able to claim for business travel she is entitled to. Does anyone have a legal take on this (if there in fact is one)?
  7. How we decide whether to tell a business to pay compensation to a consumer for “loss of use”. In this context, the term “loss of use” refers to circumstances where the consumer has been unable to use their motor vehicle because their insurer: incorrectly refused to settle a claim; “avoided” the policy (treated it as though it never existed) in error; or took too long to settle a claim (for example, the insurer took too long to carry out repairs agreed with the consumer). http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/technical_notes/loss-of-use-mv.html
