  2. Hi! I had a quick look, and there seems to be no posts about my precise problem with these and even CK Edrupt. I took out a Provident loan of roughly £1000 a year or two ago and was paying it off as agreed. In spring last year i went to China for 3 months, so i set-up a direct debit with a 'friend's' account so he could pay the agent on my behalf (a bit silly i know). Basically the whole thing fell-through, the money had problems sending and when i came back i was 3 months behind my payments. That's when CK Edrupt got in on the action, saying i had to pay them instead, and the rest of the letter saying about court and full amounts.I asked the agent that came to our house if i could just pay through him still and he said that the head honchos at the Swindon office had already decided, and that now CKE were in on it there was no going back. I thought 'fair enough' and agreed a payment of £100 a month to them (roughly the same amount i was paying the Provident agent) . The existing balance was £800 when it got switched to them. I figured that if I'm giving them £100 every four weeks, then it would be payed-off by February of this year, so i set the last payment as sometime in February. I forgot all about it, thinking everything was all done and dusted, but Provident had sent me a letter the other day of my existing balance saying it was still at roughly £500. Seeing the 'Bankers order payments' coming in at only £69.57. So it seems to me that CKE had been siphoning-off £30 here and there, and had it not been for that, i would have the loan already payed-off. So my questions are as follows: Do CKE take some sort of percentage of what i pay? (never remember reading about this) and what's the minimum amount i can pay them back now? i.e. £25 a month, £10 a month. As i am trying to save money right now and that would make it a hundred times harder. Thanks in advance! I'll be keeping my eyes glued to this thread! haha
  3. Hi Looking for a bit of advice. I had a couple of loans with provident, I think the balance at the time was approx. £1800. Basically what had happened was the agent who was collecting the money weekly stopped coming. Another agent showed up and I continued to pay without any problems. My wife lost her job so we agreed to go onto minimum payments. After missing a few payments we were visited by the area manager who agreed to clear off all the interest on the loans provided we kept our payments up to date. This was great as it reduced the amount on the loan. Another 6 weeks went by an no agent came to the door to collect. We contacted provident who advised a new agent would be out. The new agent showed up on the first week but failed to show up for the following 7 weeks. 1 week later a card was put through the door and written on it was "8 weeks noone has answered the door". If this was true then we would have a card through every week that we had missed however no card had been left. My wife then contacted provident directly and they advised that "we might send someone out next week or we might just take you to court". A few more weeks went by and I started receiving letters from Buchanan Clark and Wells advising they were collecting this debt now. I feel that this should never have been passed to them as provident hadn't stuck to their side of the agreement by collecting the money weekly. Was looking for a bit of advice before contacting them as I feel that provident have breached the agreement by not coming for the money. This has now impacted by credit rating I'd imagine as I had heard that provident now report to credit agencies when there are arrears on accounts. Can anyone advise what action I should take with this? I have contacted provident today who have advised me that they can't take the debt back from BCW and BCW have advised that they wont give the debt back to provident. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. Hi this is my first post so sorry if it's in the wrong place and admin please feel free to move it. I am hoping someone may be able to offer some advice. My wife has just found out that a member of her family took out a loan with Provident around 2 years ago and has not been keeping up the payments. They have come clean now as C K Edrupt have sent my wife a letter stating the account has been passed to them and demanding payment of around £4000. There are quite a lot of issues I don't understand - my wife hasn't lived at the address where they are sending these letters since 2002 and took my name when we were married prior to the agreement being taken out: it transpires that the family member signed the agreement as my wife using her maiden name. Has anyone been in a similar situation? How can a company can provide a loan without doing proper ID checks - I am really worried as my wife wants me to pay the money but we don't really have it and I don't see how we can be expected to pay off a loan we have no knowledge of. Many thanks in advance
  5. Hi, Back in January 2009 I took a loan out with Provident Personal Credit for £300. Everything was going fine (bar their extortionate rates of interest) until 6 months ago, when the agent stopped calling. I made calls and sent letters asking for someone to call, but to no avail. I received one letter about 4 months ago asking for payment, and I spoke to head office, who assured me that they would deal with the matter. Yesterday (9th December) I received a 'Service of Default Notice' from their solicitors demanding the debt arreasr plus a payment plan to repay the outstanding amount. Surely they are in breach of the contract by not fulfilling their side of the deal, and given that I have on more than one occasion requested visits to facilitate payment, do they really have a leg to stand on? Interestingly, my wife also has a loan for the same amount, and is in exactly the same place payment-wise, but has not received any such correspondence. I am grateful that I no longer need to deal with financial emergencies by using such means, but I refuse to let this one go and capitulate to what amounts to a poor attempt to intimidate by a tin-pot law firm. Has anyone experienced a similar set of circumstances as is able to provide a little guidance - your help would be most appreciated.
  6. Does anyone know if these two companies have an agreement? I've had a couple of letters from Provident, and a doorstep call this evening saying that they had bought the debt from Quick Quid and can now offer for me to pay Quick Quid by paying Provident weekly as they now own the debt..?? I am currently in the process of going bankrupt so basically told the man to leave, but find it strange how this has happened...
