  1. I need advice on car incident, its a bit of a grey area as to who is at fault. I was stationery in a car park and opening the car door to get out when a car nipped in to park beside me right at that moment. The other driver pulled in very quickly, when i had started to open the door it was safe to do so. It ended up with my car door denting the very corner of the other car's door right at the hinge, my car door was also dented at the edge. Lucky in a way, if I had of opened my door a second earlier my car door would have been off. The other owner now expects me to pay in full for their car to be fixed, and whilst it's not into the thousands I'm not sure if I'm at fault whilst the other owner accepts no responsibility. There is damage to both cars, so is it fair I should be out costs of fixing both? Surely the driver has to have due care pulling into a car space too? It's all very unfortunate, but I'd rather not get the insurance involved if I can help it. I have offered to pay half the costs of her car as I will have to pay for mine which I think is more than fair but they want me to pay it in full. Any advice on this would be appreciated.
  2. We are going to send a petition to No.10 to stop the government taxing us to park at work.10 Million people park at work every day. Our aim is to get 1 Million signatures to stop the tax. we are hosting the petition at the facebook page: ''Petition Parking Tax''. There is huge resistance against the tax. Do you think the Government are wrong to Tax us to park at work? It's now evident that a number of local authorities are actively examining introducing the charge in an attempt to raise funds. About 10 million people drive to work every day and many, particularly those in remote areas without public transport, will be dismayed that they could now have to pay to park. I am definately against this and have started a petition for lobbying to No.10. Please feel free to comment and if you wish to read further or sign the petition please visit the Facebook page. Thanks for your support
  3. Hi, I parked in a road side, marked out parking bay up a side street and (over) paid for a ticket which was displayed in the windscreen. Upon returning to my vehicle I had a parking ticket (PCN), which to my suprise was for being parked in a disabled spot. I at that point noticed a small sign, high up on a post which is not in line with my space, rather more in line with the white line between my space and the one next to me (which isn't disabled). The white lines separating the spaces are old white paint which is broken and needs re-painting, and after scraping away the leaves it became apparent that there is also a very old word "disabled" painted in the entry to my space, which is again all broken old paint which needs re-painting. There was no big disabled logo in the space, and what paint there was on the road marking the spaces out is all old & broken and was covered with dead leaves. Where can I find the regulations covering how a disabled space should be marked out? I've looked in the highway code, but its not clear. I feel the ticket was unfairly issued, as I am a reasonably attentive person and I was genuinely suprised to find out that it was a disabled bay - surely it should be made clearer... Hope you can help.
  4. Hey guys, Just curious if anyone else has posted their dealings with Parking Eye online and recently had a "take down" request issued to them (possibly via web hosts)? I have, as have the moderators of the PePiPoo consumer rights bulletin board. Apparently reporting the methods Parking Eye use to get money out of people is "defamation". Unfortunately it means I have to pull one of my blog posts down by Monday or my entire site will be removed by my hosts. The legal seagulls involved are a company called M Law. I have a feeling Parking Eye are running frightened from the bad publicity and the fact that people might be *shock horror* finding out that their charges have no legal basis and may not be coughing up. My post will remain till Monday if anyone wants to check it out before then, Honestly, if anyone can find anything "defamatory" in it, please let me know. I can't post links as yet - need 20 posts - so if you Google for "moshblog", then search for "PakringEye" on the blog itself (top right) you'll get the post. Cheers.
  5. Reading the different threads on this topic I'm still not sure whether writing the "code 62" as "code 622" on a PCN invalidates it or not. I have received a pcn which has the following wording, .....(description/details of the car) was logged at 09:17 Issued at 09:23 on 02/10/2010 by Civil enforcement officer ......(number & sign) who had resonable cause to believe that the following parking contravention had occured. Contravention Code 622 Parked with one or more wheels on or overa foothpath or any part of the road other than a carriageway (2wheels on footway) Please can somebody help me on this. P.S can somebody also tell me whether this code 62 is enforceable on Saturdays! Thanks in advance. Bobo Myseen
  6. Your comments are appreciated. It's now evident that a number of local authorities are actively examining introducing a ‘’parking at work tax’’ in an attempt to raise funds. About 10 million people drive to work every day and many, particularly those in remote areas without public transport, will be dismayed that they could now have to pay to park. We are going to send a petition to No.10 to stop the government taxing us to park at work. Our aim is to get 1 Million signatures to stop the tax. We are hosting the petition at an official Facebook page''Petition Parking Tax''. There is huge resistance against the tax. Please feel free to comment and if you wish to read further or sign the petition please visit the Facebook page. Thanks so much.
  7. Just wanted to share some successes. I have had tickets for my own car on private property, been ticketed and ignored the letters, they stop very soon IF it is on private land. Please do follow the advice on this site and absolutely ignore every letter you receive, there is nothing these private companies can do to enforce the 'illegal' tickets. It has worked for me. My company's delivery van has been targeted by Glasgow City council for parking in a loading bay. We are off loading but they say we are exceeding the time limit. The signage does not have any time limit shown and more importantly the lines are faint and no kerb markings are visible from the pavement. I have appealed 3 tickets to the Parking Adjudicator and won 3 so far. I will now send an invoice to Glasgow City Council for reasonable costs if they issue any more tickets as they know they aren't legally enforcable at this spot and will set a debt collection firm on them if they don't pay!
  8. I parked outside my gym on Saturday, as I have done for five years knowing the parking bays are Mon - Fri ending 6:30pm. Returning to my car I was surprised to see a parking ticket for 'Contravention 06 - Parked without clearly displaying a valid pay & display ticket'. Upon checking the white parking signs in the street, I saw that they'd been neatly re-stickered to display Mon-Sun ending 10pm! I don't doubt Brent Council's right to change the hours of parking bays as such, but surely there must be some kind of formal notification that regular visitors can see, e.g. a second big yellow sign attached to the post below the hours saying 'New Hours In Force - Please Check', similar to what I've seen for forthcoming suspension of parking bays. A permanent change of hours is AT LEAST as significant as a temporary suspension of the bay for the regular motorist, so surely a 2cm x 2cm white sticker on a white background up at 10ft on a lampost isn't notice enough? Any advice on the above greatfully received!
