  1. We have a HP agreement with Close Finance for a vehicle that we took out in September last year. Payments are up to date and done by DD on the 26th of every month. We would like to change to Standing Order paying every 4 weeks to coincide with my motability payment. In essence within two months, we would be ahead with our payments. It would make it easier to manage our money as we have to hold onto the instalment amount for up to a month at times. The T &Cs state "You must pay the following amounts; £20 if we agree to change your payment method, £20 if we agree to change your payment due date, etc Rest does not apply in these circumstances as it relate to arrears. IMHO only the one £20 fee should apply for changing the payment method. We are not asking to change the payment date as payment will be made prior to the payment date. If we request their bank details to set up the Standing Order, can they refuse and insist on the DD? Is there anything in statute that prevents us paying by another method or them rejecting another method?
  2. Hi all and I welcome any advice please I applied for a job back in September last year. I passed the phone interview and a week later went for the personal interview and got the job. I knew there was some weekend work involved but I am a single parent and my children went to their dads every other weekend so I could work every other Saturday. After a month of working there (and knowing my personal circumstances) they put me down to work Sundays and late evenings.I have twins aged 9 and and a 15 year old boy. I told them that these shifts were no good to me and I would have to look for another job. The main manager and another lower manager had a meeting with me about the hours I could work and they agreed that I was a really good worker and they did not want to loose me and they would trial my hours for 3 months and if all worked out then that would be ok. Nothing was signed only verbal. The 20 hours that I could work are 10-5 Monday to Friday and every other Saturday 9-6. This has been working fine for 4 months. My boss said to me today that come the summer I would have to work late evenings and Sundays. This is worrying me because although I have a 15 year old they bicker and I do not like the idea of kids looking after kids. I have a childminder that works until 530 during the week nut does not work at all at the weekends. Any advice I would be grateful for Kindest regards
  3. Hi, I have an account with Barclays and they keep changing the dates they take their payment. This month they didn't take the payment until the 3rd instead of the 29th. I mucked up and thought they had taken their payment and paid another bill which meant there wasn't enough money so the payment has been returned. I have just sent an formal complaint about the dates and wanted some clarification regarding the DD guarantee, if they take on another date than is on the agreement do they have to tell me. I have just looked at the payments I have made and they have never taken the payment on the day they should, it has either been 1 day early or late. Any comments would be helpful Thanks JJ
  4. Hi all, hope someone can help me out:?: I have been working for my employer for over 2 years working a 12 noon - 8pm shift. I am the carer of my parents who are old and unwell (Father has had 2 heart attacks in the last 6 months and my mother has parkinson's disease) I have been forced to work 9am - 5pm as part of the business needs with only one day notice from monday gone. I have told my manager there is nobody else to look after my parents in the mornings as I am the only child still living at home. My sister in law who is currently working part time (after recovering from cancer and being off work for over a year) is able to come over and look after them in the afternoon and evenings. I have spoken to my manager and his manager and both have been very unhelpful. A colleague of mine who is the carer of her disabled mother had the same problem but after discussing with my manager she has stayed on the 12-8 shift. I have spoken to HR about the matter and seems like they are siding with the business and not understanding the family situation at home. They are still looking into the matter and will hopefully let me know the decision tomorrow. In my contract it states I am contracted to work any 8 hour shift between 8am & 8pm. I really need to get my old shift back as I am worried sick something may happen to my parents while they are home alone. A family friend has kindly offered to pop over for an hour in the morning this week to make sure my parents are ok but she has her own children to look after and I don't feel right asking for the help as they my parents and not someone else's responsibility. I am just really worried leaving them on their own as they rely on me so much What has annoyed me the most is the fact my colleague spoke to our manager to look after her disabled mother in the mornings and without any problems was able to carry on with that shift. Can someone please help me in the right direction? Thanks in advance
  5. Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct thread but, Can anyone tell me what are the requirements are for removing the Letting agency from the agreement and just doing the letting privately. Would it depend on the agreement which was initially signed, or is there a time schedule by law which is prevalent to these things? We've had a tenant for 3 years now and a 'management' company swiping 10% per month to look cheerful!!! Can we just terminate the agreement and keep the tenant with a new private agreement or are there complications in law? If anyone has experience of this please can you update me? Thanks in advance.

  7. Hello can anyone help me. I filled in a ET1 in October 2011 for Disability Discrimination and since then reasonable adjustments agreed in August 2011 where not put in place until June 2012 Can I change my ET1 and add reasonable adjustments where not put in place. Also I am claiming for 3rd party discrimination and direct discrimination. The second respondent is trying to get the claim kicked out on time limit rules as the discrimination issues took place 9/06/2012 but after I had put an official grievance in and I was pushing for a full investigation the person stood in front of my desk staring at me and acting in an intimidating way(This person works for a different division of my company).I complained to my managers by email and it was ignored. The person has never been removed from my work place and has even been moved to work with his team onto the floor I work on. Becasue of this and the stress this caused me I have now moved to a different job working for the same company in a different building that has caused a drop in pay. The company is very high profile.. I am due to have a judicial mediation meeting next week and am unsure of what to ask for... Sorry so many questions I just need guidance please..
  8. Hi, This may seem a strange request and any comments would be greatly appreciated. I currently work in the financial sector and have done for the last 15 years in various roles. I have now decided that i wish to work in a cafe in our local aquarium. This is because i am finding it increasingly hard to reach work targets and wish to have a complete change. I am concerned that the aquarium will see that what i do now is totally unrelated and throw away my cv. Does any one have any ideas on how i can over come the problem of being overlooked? Thank you for reading me x
  9. Hi I would appreciate some info on changing my current valid N.Ire driving licence to a uk/scottish licence.(Got a job in scotland) Does anyone know anything about how to go about doing this? How much does it cost? I have 6 points, will they get transferred over to scottish licence? Thanks, can't find anything on net about this issue but maybe i'm just dumb
  10. An independent worker damaged a newly plastered and painted wall as well as hitting a power cable. Another company was called in to mend the damage and the bill sent to the workman for payment. Four months later his insurance company are only offering to pay a percentage of the cost of the repair plus they are not paying the amount due from the workman who is liable for the first £250 of any claim made against him. On what grounds can the Insurance company not pay the full amount claimed. The whole flat had just been refurbished so no question of betterment involved.
  11. I changed address three times and have discovered why Swinton first reduced the charge from £25 to £15 then second address change refunded my £25 so easily, something to do with estimate costs. Now I'm trying for my car insurance as well, so I emailed echoice and hastings. Echoice want me to phone them, which I really don't want to do seeing as it's an 0844 number and I'll be held on the phone for ages answering "security" questions, so I've emailed back asking them to give me a response by email first, after all they are a web based company and I have to wonder why they won't respond to an email, Hastings have so far ignored my email. Is this the right way to go about it?
  12. Hi everyone, I'm not having any problems at work, just want some advice on changing my hours at work if it is at all possible. Basically i'm working part-time 20 hours per week monday to friday 3pm to 8pm. I've been offered another part-time job working wednesday/thurs/friday and maybe a saturday and i just wondered if i could still do 20 hours over monday and tuesday at my current employment and then the new part-time job from weds - saturday. I'm guessing it's the employers discretion on whether i can or not but i was just wondering if there would be anything i could do if they say no? I don't see how it's fair i'm only earning £150 per week when i could be earning even more for the sake of them changing the hours i work. Any suggestions please? Thanks
  13. Hello. My friend moved out to Oz a few years ago and in that time he got himself a driving licence. Now he is moving back to blighty in the next couple of weeks and seeks to get his licence exchanged when he gets here... Will he be able to exchange for a full UK licence or will the DVLA send him a provisional licence and be required to sit a UK test....? Thanks....

  15. Hi all Can someone please help me? I've been on IB for about 10 years. I've got chronic RA and osteoporosis and have undergone 5 hip replacements. I recently received the Limited Capability for Work Questionnaire and today received their decision. they've transferred me onto ESA and placed me in the WRAG. What does this mean exactly? I'd dearly love to go back to work but don't see it as an option anytime soon due to the fluctuating nature of my illness. My medical team agree with me. What should I do? Should I appeal the decision? If yes, what sort of things should I put in the letter? Thanks B x
