  1. Hi I've been out of work for nearly a year, have done supply teaching in that period but very infrequently, 2 or 3 days a month (often less). I've been lucky enough to have secured an interview with Ingeus as an employment advisor, helping the long term unemployed, I've already passed the telephone interview part and so now have face to face interview coming up. I would love this job, I'd be VERY, VERY HAPPY to never see a classroom again!!!! I'm a bit worried about the CRB check though. Last year I received a caution, I'm actually really angry with myself for accepting it, I guess I took the advice of the young solicitor who spoke to me, but wish I'd fought it. I wont go into too much detail but basically I had a sports bag with me when I entered a football ground in England, inside were 4 cans of lager, I was told that I'd committed an offence. To cut a long story short, I've a police caution: POSSESSION OF INTOXICATING LIQUOR WHEN ENTERING A SPORTS GROUND (SPORTING EVENTS CONTROL OF ALCOHOL ETC) ACT 1985. If this wasn't on my CRB I am convinced that I would have a very good chance of getting this job, but pretty much as the last 5 years have gone since qualifying as a teacher it seems this may thwart me. How shall I play this in the interview. I've also got a letter from the solicitor which corroborates my version of events as I type here. Thank you
  2. I opened my account was Barclays in April, the account was a young persons one as I was under 18, later on in that month once I turned 18, I went into branch and upgraded my account to the Current Account Plus. I had already got my standard debit card and all my details and my works pay going into this account. From various TV adverts, posters, and their online banking website I seen that they had a contactless card which seemed pretty cool to me as I just had the standard one. I went into my local branch to enquire and the cashier said that my existing card would be auomatically stopped and I would have to wait 2-5 days on the new one arriving, I declined as I was going on holidays in a few days and feared it would not be there in time. Then about a month later or so I was in branch lodging cash and mentioned it again, the girl asked the personal banker and he said to write down my account number and sort code along with some other number from the computer and he would order me it that day and I would receive it soon. Over a month passed and till no card. Yesterday when I went into branch to lodge a cheque, I mentioned this to another cashier and she called the personal banker who remembered that he had done it for me. After the phone call the cashier rudely stated that I had been credit scored and failed in front of other customers. I asked her why I had been credit scored for debit card and this was very odd, she wouldn't agree so I left. Once I thought about it, I realised they had credit scored me without my knowledge or permission. If they had of made me aware of the credit scoring process for a simple debit card I would have declined. I do not have an adverse history or anything, I just do not have much due to my age. I do although have a capital one credit card and Vodafone sim only contract from May which have both been paid on time. I rang the Barclays team and they agreed that I had been declined for a contactless debit card and they had credit searched me. I am amazed that I could be declined for a debit card, as all I could spend is what I have in my account? whenever I told the person I had not been aware that I would have been credit checked, he realised that Barclays had done something wrong and put me onto the customer relations team or something instead of debit card enquiries. The girl in this team basically said that I failed and that was it, but she could push this complaint higher if I wanted (although she sounded like she didn't want too) I agreed to do it as I feel like they are acting on my behalf and accessing my personal credit report without my permission? she did admit this shouldn't have happened and this will be brought up in that branch as it cannot happen. I have no heard anything back yet from this next team, what do yous think I should expect? Have they done wrong, I just want to know what I should be saying to them on the phone whenever they do call? Am I silly for getting so annoyed for them doing this? It was something silly that I just thought, 'that looks cool, I'll have that,' sort of mentality. I am still a college student, but work part time during school months earning a decent wage, and earn a full time wage over summer months. I am in a good financial position for being 18 with 700+ plus coming into my account monthly and never once went into an unauthorised overdraft, etc. Next year I am going to uni and am seriously considering using another bank for my student account. They seem very dishonest and uncaring to me. I do have multiple credit checks on my profile, but no missed payments etc, but its my own money i'd be spending.
  3. Revenue & Customs is facing a growing storm of protest over plans to force taxpayers to take responsibility for checking their tax code. Accountants and tax campaigners are calling on the Revenue to reverse the proposals, which they argue will make taxpayers pay for mistakes made by the taxman. The row revolves around Extra Statutory Concession A19 – part of the Revenue’s rule book. This rule means taxes can be waived if a taxpayer supplied all the necessary information, but tax officials failed to use it promptly and correctly in calculating their tax bill. The rule simply requires that a taxpayer must ‘reasonably have believed’ their tax affairs were in order. The Revenue has proposed changing the rules and replacing the emphasis on reasonable belief with ‘taxpayers responsibilities’, requiring taxpayers to check their own tax codes. 4. As title says My letting agent took £100 off me for a credit check to move into my property. I have recently checked all 3 CRA files and nothing shows up on any that they have done any checking. Would a letting agency credit check show up anyways? Or have they just shafted me for £100? thanks
  5. Hi there hoping for a bit of positive advice. On Christmas day me and my ex hubby ended our marriage, he left and had no where perm to sleep, sometimes family sometimes friends etc, we had joint account, i still was able to get bills paid etc. May 19th he found perm living arrangements, we began changing things over and he removed all his belongings. As it came to annual declaration i rang up and did it all at once, declared 2011 - 2012 and informed of separation. A telephone call came a week later saying they had received my single claim and could they ask why? I told them i have parted with my husband. she asked if it was before or after the april end of tax year, i said well to be honest he has been gone since xmas day but we have been sorting things out slowely and we had joint account etc. Letter came 19th july compliance check, asked for bank statements inc joint accounts, gas/elec/telephone council tax, i sent them all straight in. they rang few days after saying they had received the papers and could they have an address for my ex husband. I gave them it. I feel drained and have had no payment since i ended the joint claim. I am yet to hear bk. I have removed him from the council tax, the electoral roll is currently being updated as the canvassers have been round, all bills are in my name as i changed them straight away, they only thing is a joint bank account which i have sent the mandate off to have my name removed. they have to now write to him and do the same. He always transferred most of his wage into the joint account to help me. now i have my divorce forms all filled in and ready (just got no money to pay it) my bank account is now set up and my money into my account and he has agreed a set payment monthly. what else can they possibly want, their tone of voice on the phone is not as welcoming as i'd hope and they really don't give you clear answers. I have three children and childcare fees are mounting up as well as rent, my landlord and nursery are aware of what is happening and ok to wait but does anyone know how long this process takes and is there anything i can offer them as further proof!! Thanks peeps:|
  6. Does it show up on his credit file and will the bad debt from his previous life catch up with him if the DCA can read this info ? Thanks
  7. Hello, * Background info: 5 years ago, I lost my photocard driving licence (on a night out) and around 2 years after that, it was returned to me by the police. They would not give any details as to what the ID was used for during that time. * Now, I am undergoing regular employment screening for a new job. Never had any trouble with the police, no cautions/charges/convictions. I recently had a phone call from the organisation conducting the screening, asking a few questions about where I have lived/worked/etc. Referring to an address in the city where I have never lived before. Apparently, my details are 'similar' to another person who has been involved in criminal activity. They concluded that I would need to have my fingerprints taken to confirm that this person is not me. I will soon receive information in the post and will have to arrange an appointment at the police station to have this done. I have a strong feeling that whilst my driving licence was in the wrong hands, it was being used for something foolish. I called the police about this, but they were not helpful and simply suggested I complete the data protection form (and pay £10) to release any information held about me. My concerns: 1. Will this false information stick with me on the PNC for the rest of my life, or can it be removed? 2. What if I fail the fingerprint check too, for whatever reason? For instance, my house was burgled a few years ago and the police took my fingerprints so that when dusting the house, they could disregard my prints. What if these are the prints they have on file for me! Please advise me on what to do. Many thanks.

  9. I'm after a three phone for the missus (needs to be three, because she's always on the phone to the monster in law, who is also on three). Tried to purchase a SIM-only deal on a rolling contract from three.co.uk, and failed the credit check. Tried with the missus' bank details, and still failed. I've checked my credit reports, and they're nice and healthy, so god knows why three are rejecting me. I tried calling them, but they couldn't say why I had failed, just that I had. Any three reps on here? I'm sure they could wave a magic wand if they wanted to.
  10. I'm hoping someone can help me out here with advice and hopefully reasurance. My wife and i seperated in 2004, we have two children and own a house together, we never got divorced and my wife and children continued to live in the house, i paid the mortgage plus maintenance for the children, this was an agreement between my wife and i as i didnt want to create any more upheaval than neccesary for my children. My wife started claiming single persons allowance at about this time. I spend a lot of time out of the country and can easily prove this, when i am in the UK i always come and see my kids, up until last year i either travelled around when not working or stayed in a friends caravan (rent free) because i wouldnt be able to rent a house (landlords dont want their properties to remain empty for the majority of the year and i couldnt get nor afford another mortgage). In order for me to function on a day to day basis, i remained registered at the home address even though i wasnt living there. Last year, my wife and i decided we would try and work things out with a view to maybe getting back together and i did spend some time at the house, 4 weeks in August and 4 in November. My wife didnt inform the tax people of a change in circumstances because it wasnt certain that i would be coming back. I returned to the family home in May this year and we had dedcided that this would now be permanant, my wife was about to inform the tax office of a change in circumstances when she received a letter from HMRC saying they had information i was living there and she had to say why she was claiming single persons allowance. We are both obviously very worried, if we explain the above what sort of sanctions are we looking at? Thanks for any comments or advice.
  11. Hi folks, I need a little advice. I was convicted of drink driving 14yrs ago this month '(Hit by an unmarked police car while stationary but no excuses 15month ban and £300 fine) I started with the NHS the following year and at the time with no computer or forums like this to seek advice I didnt think that a driving offence went on my check. 6yrs later and a further check and now knowing a little I declared my offence and was dragged before HR who gave me a written warning. Last week my new enhanced CRB check was done and the offence was on there. I had an email from my trust asking for a little information on the issue which I provided. They emailed me back thanking me and said it was going to panel 21 of June. Just been reading up on these panels and it says I could lose my job if they think fit. Any advice help please as am stressing here. Convicted done it and was very ashamed.
  12. Hi all, this is my first visit I have a 14 year old son who was recently diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome, which is a form of Autism. He has obsessive tendencies, which is one of the symptoms, and as such 'demands' that I take him to his favourite places on a Saturday. I approached my employer and asked for my hours to be amended to accommodate this and was open and honest and explained the situation fully. They made me fill in the relevant forms, and then knocked me back, stating their reasons, all of which dont hold any water. They first claim cost when I proved that cost would be zero and also that they couldnt 'cover my duty' of a Saturday, when I have evidence that my job has been covered every time that I was off on holiday on a Saturday. I have since become absent due to stress and anxiety and have attempted to contact my manager by email, requesting various documentary evidence that he claims to have to support him, but he has not answered three emails. My simple question is, where do I go next? Any help greatly appreciated
  13. Hi , Car , BMW 318i , failed it's MOT due to the ABS lights orange on dash so booked a diagnostic check at local garage (quoted £26) , went along and was sent to another garage as that one didn't have the correct equipment .....all good so far , went straight into the other garage , test done in 5 mins which showed both front ABS sensors faulty . Asked price to fix , and was quoted £88+ vat each for the sensors NOT fitted , declined as I'd looked online and knew I could source them much cheaper ( 2 phone calls and got them for £28 each) . Asked them how much they wanted for the diagnostic test expecting it to be around the £30 mark only to be stung for £60 . Pretty peed off but ,hey thats garages for you . Anyway , replaced sensors myself , easy job , one hex bolt and unplug and the sensors off , took a couple of hours tops with tea breaks . But surprise ,surprise the ABS lights are still on . Now I have to fork out for another diagnostic check , can I demand money back from the garage as they have supplied me with a wrong diagnostic check ?
  14. Hi All, I am sending my car back under the V.T rules to welcome Finance today I had a guy come to do an inspection from the RAC on behalf of the finance company his findings were:- Stone chips to Front Bumper stone chips to Bonnet Scratch to nsr wing( This scratch was on the car when I originally purchased the car) I bought the car 2 yaers ago with 96,000 Miles on the clock it has now done 113,000 MIles and the car is in better condition now that when I bought it. I have Full Audi service history wirth the car & surely a car with this mileage on it is expected to have this type of stone chip damage as i accepted it at 96,000 Miles with stone chip damage. The RAC man asked me to sign for the damage which i refused to do so as I would be agreeing to paying the £500 to rectify the damage he quoted. They are having a laugh surely, Simon
