Hidden costs: Budget airlines charge up to £160 to correct mistakes on tickets Ryanair will hit you in the pocket if a mistake needs correcting at the airport Budget airlines can end up not being so cheap after all Getty Passengers on budget airlines are being charged up to £160 just to correct spelling mistakes on tickets. Others have to shell out for a whole new ticket if they turn up at the airport with one letter of their name in the wrong place. Ryanair has a £160 admin fee if the mistake needs to be corrected at the airport while Thomson charges from £50 to up to the full cost of the ticket on the day of departure. Experts say it’s *another example of airlines squeezing extra cash out of passengers. Fees *apply when the name on the ticket is different to the name in the passport – even simple variations like Dave and David in the passport. And new brides can be caught out if they book with their married name. Airlines say the passenger lists they provide to authorities have to exactly match names on tickets. So airlines can refuse to allow anyone on board if there is even the slightest difference between the name on a ticket and in a passport.   3. Hi, I missed my jsa signing on day and Im currently paying back my budget loan, Im worried whats going to happen with paying back the £6.75 instalment that usually comes out of my jobseekers allowance every week. Thank You for your time and help.
  4. Hi, I used to be with Budget for my Car Insurance. When I first started the cover, I was 'fined' £20 for not returning a form I was never sent. Eventually and after costly phone calls, I got the form, sent it back, but never received the £20 back I was told I would. I recently sent them a letter stating that I wanted £20 plus the cost of calls to them for their mistake. The total was £25.37. I was phoned by someone in their complaints department who promised me the money within a few days. 2 months on, I'm still waiting. I want to send them one more letter before I take this to the small claims court. My question is, can I ask for other things to be added on such as my time and the cost of the letters, or the electricity I have used for computer time etc? The last letter I sent them cost me £1.55, so if I send another one, that would be a total of £3.10 that their actions have cost me (in addition to costly phone calls) in order to get my money back. Can I add this to the total to be paid back? I basically want to send them one last warning letter that if I don't receive my money back plus other costs accrued so far, I will be taking legal action. Thanks in advance
  5. If I want to cancel insurance of any kind I should not have to pay a fee for the privilege. Not so with Budget. After receiving a letter telling us we were being charged £15 for not returning signed papers we had no idea we were supposed to return, we decided to cancel our home insurance with them. They then told us we would be charged a £45 cancellation fee for doing so, even though we had not even signed the agreement. We have had various insurance policies for different things over the years, and several times have cancelled ones if we have found a better deal elsewhere. No-one else has charged us a cancellation fee for doing so. We were told in no uncertain terms via telephone to pay up or else (or words to that effect). Bear in mind that you are entering into a loan credit agreement when you sign up for insurance. We had no idea about this, naively or not, and would never use this company again and would strongly advise others against doing so. At the time of writing this, their website terms and conditions give no indication of any of these fees, which in my opinion is very bad form. They should be made clear so people can make an informed decision before they go through the quote process. We were told this info was in the small print in the documents we didn't sign!
