  1. Just sit tight and watch the money rolling in. Nationwide doesn't pay the whole amount in one go (that may tantamount to admission!), but 3-4 equal instalments on eafter the other on the same day. Last entry is acash one and includes the interest and the court fee. All part of the games they play along with the other sharks. If you fancy you can go along and tell the members of Nationwide at the next AGM how they are 'proud to be different'!! BTW, they don't close your account anymore as a result of FSA intervention (don't push it though, they're looking for an excuse now!)
  2. Nationwide (and A & L) no longer close accounts of claimants. They have been fined hundreds of pounds by the Fin. Obudsman and have been warned not to do it again. So do go ahead, but 1997-2000? Isn't it normally that you can claim charges up to 6 years ?
  3. Just to update the pos and anyone interested: I got all my charges back PLUS interest PLUS court fee, a total of over 4.5k. The even better news is that I got to keep the account too, as they didn't close it like they've been prevously doing to everyone. Thanks guys!
  4. It seems that virtually nobody so far that asked a SAR from Nationwide got their reply within the 40 days. In my case they blamed the post for not delivering the large parcel with the statements! Anyway, I got all my money from them in the end AND made a complaint to the DPA. Hopefully it will help anyone in the future so that they can get theirs within the 40-day limit. Also in reply to a previous poster, Nationwide (as well as A & L) are NOT closing accounts any more (after A & L were fined and reprimanded by the FSA for doing exactly that), I only got a letter reminding me to keep my account in order!
  5. Acknowledgment of Service Defence of Claim, or just another time-wasting tactic by the banks & so-called building socs like the Nation-whine. Not being paid for interest - calculated at contractual 8% starting from the END OF THE YEAR occured and not from the date as I should, tried to be fair ! Not being paid Court Fee of £ 120. About to fill the Court reply asking for those. Are they really amateurs or trying once more to insult our intelligence as well as THE JUDGE'S ONE! No doubt he'll be pleased to add his fee for turning up unecessary! I have a good mind to add extra costs for non-payment and time-wasting!
  6. Fellow members dealing with Nation-whine: patience and perseverence is the key to seeing your claims through to 100% result. Having started writing them letters back in November and getting nowhere, I am now at the stage where I actually got ALL my charges that I claimed (£ 3.3 k) BUT: 1. NO Interest/Over £ 1k (only asking for 8% backdated/start yr 2001) 2. NO Court Fee/£ 120 (said they'd contest, but they didn't: loophole?) They have really p...ed me off, so I'm not not going to let them off the hook. Back in December, I even offered to take £ 3k, but they had none of it, now they are off their high horse, they are in for a rough ride. I'll be inclined to complete the form asking for the FULL BALANCE to be paid Any advice from any members in similar situation as to where it may lead? (Apart from more delays)
  7. They NEVER answer or ring you back. Maybe they don't want to further incriminate themselves. I'd scribble on their letters and send them back with comments (mainly bad). Then they reply to you in writing (madness!)
  8. I'm glad Nationwide are exposed here for what they are, ie worst sharks in the pack and not what they want us to believe, ie a 'friendly' building society. I'd say expect the unexpected from them. I can't go into details, as I have an outstanding County Court Claim against them for over 4 grand (inc. interest and costs) but I will tell once it's settled. In the meantime, go to the DPA website and download a complaint form for not complying to a S.A.R. request within 40 days and let things nicely take their course. The Data Information Commissioner's Office knows all about their tricks plus they have just had a fine of nearly £ 1 m for the loss of the laptop with details of 000's of customer id's. BTW, don't fall for the £ 5 per page trick (they try that one first). As a previous poster mentioned, just send them a letter with the heading S.A.R. (Subject access request) asking for 6 yrs statements. They'll write back a few weeks/months later asking for £ 10. It's all to do with buying time-don't let them! The more complaints they get, the faster they'll have to act in future. otherwise another fine will do nicely, thank you.
  9. Oops, I did it again! (brings back memories of young Britney!) I have been member of a jury with a judge like Dredd , I'd love to be one!
  10. Thanks guys (that includes the moderator) for your prompt replies. I am new to the forum, so I'll keep to the rules. Can't help it though - my hair stands on end every time I mention [edit]-cards!
  11. [EDIT]-card I am one step away from going to court with these [EDIT]. They have [EDIT] me with; 1. Their interest rate which has gone up in 5 months from 17% to 29% (!!) 2. Their charges - £ 400 since 2003 when I first got their [EDIT]-Card !! My qns are: a. Is there anything I can do about the 1st? (I doubt it) b. In their letter response to mine Before Action, they mention the [EDIT] vs [EDIT]Financial in NI. does this mean that we now have to settle for the difference between the newly set £ 12 fee and the £ 25 that was before? In that case, it's half of what they owe me, ie £ 200. c. If I go ahead and make my day, will they then withdraw my credit facility and demand payment for the balance (ca £ 3000 atm). I don't trust them one bit as they are the worst of a bad bunch. Anyone that has [EDIT] experiences, pls let me know. JD
  12. On the subject of the Nationwide Data Protection Team, I originally requested copies of 6 years statements back in November using their own website e-mail facility. After several letters, I got an acknowledgent 4 weeks later asking me for the £ 10 fee which I sent immediately. Only last week I got another letter asking me for my signature. They are taking the p*ss, so I have downloaded a complaint form from the Data Protection Act and if the statements don't come by next week, I am launching a DP complaint as well as taking them to court for over £ 3,000 in fees/charges. If they think anyone is going to give up, they've got another thing coming!
