  1. Well knock me down with a feather!!! Received letter today offering "refund in full as a gesture of goodwill". It does also say " Charges of a similar nature may be applied to your account in the future and the Halifax will not offer a refund of any future charges that you may incur". This is them just trying to intimidate me, right? So, settled in full. Another success story for this site. Donation on it's way when I receive cheque. Thank you.
  2. Good for you. Doing it now you will have a good new year and every year this millenium
  3. Thanks for that. Should have looked at this page properly!! If I had brains I'd be dangerous............
  4. Quite new to this myself. I assume you have sent the prelim letter. Wait 14 days and see if you get a response. I had a letter saying they were sorry about me being unhappy, contact them or go to the ombudsman etc if still unhappy when they contact me at their convenience, some time after the 12th of never. Do not forget the timescale is YOURS NOT THEIRS. If 14 days after they should have received your prelim letter you have heard nothing, look in template letters for next stage. Good luck. I did hear from them and I will now be sending LBA this week. Not waiting for 12th of never.
  5. Does anyone have an address for these people. Perhaps I have been looking in wrong place but can't find anything. Thanks
  6. Going to be taking these people on soon and have the following addresses for you. Their name seems to have changed to Beneficial Finance (instead of Household Bank) - beneficial to whome? :-| PO Boc 1071 Bootle L21 2WF. However on back of statement it states this Beneficial Finance is the trading name of HFC Bank let which has its registered office at: North Street Winkfield Windsor Berkshire SL4 4TD. Power to the people I say.
  7. Gosh it is starting to happen. Acknowledgment letter popped through the letter box this morning. 35 days for them to comply. Still not sure how far back in time I can go. I presume it is 6 years. Payday soon so I will be able to buy suggested books. Halixax prelim letter sent 05/11/06 Reply received 17/11/06 West brom SAR 12/11/06 Acknowledgment letter received 18/11/06
  8. Thanks for that. Will post letter on correct 14 days deadline. No need to rush after all.
  9. Standard letter "sorry to learn of your concerns etc" received today. LBT will be sent off over the weekend. I am assuming it will be all right to post back to Martyn Black, Customer Relations Manager at PO box at this stage, right? I did not add charges in my last letter as I assumed it would be best to add 8% when I submit to the courts. Isn't this daft. I can answer some queries in other theads, but when it comes to your own some of us forget. I was convenienced they would ignore me for another 14 days.
  10. Going back a few threads your sister's claim came to under £5000 before 8% charges added. The 8% is not counted by the court, it is just added on afterwards so her claim is fine. I know what I mean but have I made myself understood?
  11. You keep to your schedule. They are just trying delaying tactics. Best of luck.
  12. I can't believe they have the right to do that. Bet one of the moderators will have something to say which is more useful than my posting.... I am speechless!!!!!
  13. They rang me last week wanting a payment I was unwilling to make on that day. The man said he could take funds out of savings account but I said no. So presumably the answer to your question is also no unless you agree. I did think it was a bit rich that they can access accounts they do not call you about though.
  14. Congratulations. What a lovely Christmas present!! Hope you hear about 2nd claim asap.
  15. Casn't remember which thread I saw this information on but apparently with the new technology RM are using some of the postman delivering say 15 letters to one address were only getting one signed for. Looks like this is still happening. Thus all other letters are "missing". I am sending post tomorrow using "proof of posting" which is apparently fine and FREE.
  16. Thanks for that. I did read quite a lot of threads when I first joined up 2 weeks ago and I look what is happening to others most days. Silly question coming up - do I start a new thread for every claim? Seems silly to put everything under Halifax. I notice you and others have claimed more than 6 years. How is this allowed?
  17. Right - did some more thread reading. My mortgage with these people closed approx 2 years ago and I no longer had details. So on advice supplied on this forum I popped in today and provided proof of identity and address implying that I had been asked to do so over the counter. All information supplied without my having to mention Date Protection Act. Sending it all off tomorrow with RM 'proof of posting' whatever that is. Glad to be informed it is free. Oh, and £10 fee naturally. 2 started - only another 9ish to go. Halifax mortgage - prelim letter posted 05/11/06
  18. I have this still to come but I would ask yourself how many hours have you devoted to it this evening without a break. If it were me I would have an early night and come back refreshed to it tomorrow. Sounds like you are doing all right though.
  19. Thanks for that. 1st letter going off tomorrow. Next target Time Retail Finance. Start small and will then proceed to bigger claims.
  20. Until I moved my repayment date to payday I had been charged £175 in missed payment fees/arrears letters. Can I claim this back and do I use the preliminary letter. I intend to buy "Small claims" book but I have no spare cash at the moment. (Car needs new gear box.)
  21. Thanks for that. Only 5 accounts. I have a few more than that unfortunately. Will be starting on Wednesday. Should I let CCCS know as a matter of courtesy? Must do more reading. It's going to be a long haul but sooooo rewarding:rolleyes:
  22. Actually I found then the most helpful when I wanted to reach an agreement before CCCS and I actually agreed with the chairman when he said borrowing money from them was not best option when the press went to town on that that but perhaps I was little fry to them. Never the less I would consider them over the co-op who refused to stop charges at all. Still all in good time....................
  23. Wow what a lot to take in!!!! I am about to contact Halifax. I got into so much debt trouble I contacted the CCCS who have put me on a payment plan last year. Is there any reason why I could not claim from the banks/credit cards the CCCS have reached agreement with on my behalf as obviously part of my debts were caused by bank charges.
  24. Need to do more reading before I start claiming from the Halifax. Last year I registered with the above to sort out all other banks/credit cards. Payment plan now in operation BUT can I claim unfair charges from other banks etc as this is what got me into trouble in the first place:p
