  3. Just got a phone call from the lovely Margaret at Barclays - RBS rang her to say it was OK to pay it, so the money's now in my account. Yay!
  4. Now, here's fun! I got my cheque last Wednesday, and paid it into Barclays (despite the "into account XXXXXXXX" stipulation, the Cash Manager at my local Barclays branch said this had no significance). I decided that as it was such a large amount I'd use Special Presentation to get the money quickly, and agreed with the £15 fee. On Friday, I got a phone call from Barclays saying that RBS couldn't confirm payment of the cheque and I'd have to wait until Monday, but that Barclays would waive the fee. I just got another call saying RBS now can't locate the cheque, despite it having been sent Special Delivery and signed for! So, is this just another example of RBS Group's incompetence or are they toying with me just for fun?
  5. And I've won! Cheque received for full amount including interest up to 1st January (I'm going to let them off the £20 extra interest though!). Made out to the usual 'into account XXXXXXXX', but I paid it into Barclays anyway. The "Cash Manager" no less said it would be fine. This is my biggest claim, and I'm so glad to have got it back. In my opinion, NatWest have always been totally unfair and over-zealous in their application of charges. I'm so glad I've been able to stick them for a refund plus interest! A donation to CAG will, of course, be forthcoming as soon as the cheque's cleared! Only one or two more claims from me, but now my parents are getting interested. They've been charged quite a bit by Royal Bank of Scotland over the years...
  6. Got home from work to find a "Sorry you were out" card from Royal Mail today, advising of a Special Delivery. I'm not expecting anything else, so fingers crossed for when I go to the delivery office first thing in the morning!
  7. Yes, I did - it just pointed out what was enclosed, that it had been handed in to the court, and gave the latest amount they owed me!
  8. OK, bundle handed in to Reading County Court and posted to Cobbetts (1.35Kg!) this morning as per judge's directions. Three weeks, Cobbetts! Give me my £4,820 (including interest and fees!)
  9. OK, finally got the allocation notice through in the post this morning! I've been allocated to the Small Claims track, and the District Judge has accepted the Draft Order for Directions in full, only chaning the deadlines slightly to give both parties 21 days instead of 14. Hearing date is 12th March, 11:30am at Reading County Court. Now I've just got to get all the documents required in the Directions together!
  10. I'm pretty sure the court will accept that the letters arrived - the vast majority of post gets to its destination in this country! The court doesn't send by Recorded delivery either.
  11. Handed in my AQ this morning along with the £100 fee. Also sent a copy to Cobbetts, with a covering letter:
  12. Received AQ this morning from Reading County Court, with a return deadline of 4th January... and have decided to wait it out rather than returning it straight away. I do hope I get a cheque before the 4th!
  13. Received a copy of the defence in the post this morning - and they even got my postcode correct this time! I've written a quick reply to Cobbetts acknowledging receipt, but I assume I now just sit back and await the Allocation Questionnaire?
  14. Received Cobbetts' 50% offer letter yesterday, offering £2400. Amusingly, they got my postcode wrong - but it got here anyway! I have, of course, written back advising that I will accept but only as part payment, updating the amount with interest to £4683.42 and saying no, I won't keep it confidential unless they want to offer me further consideration!
  15. Good to hear you beat them! Congratulations, and you're quite right - persistence is the key.
  16. Letter from Reading County Court this morning - NatWest have filed an Acknowledgement of Service on 29 November, giving Cobbetts name and address for service of documents.
  17. OK, thanks to the wonderfully helpful guys in the CAG chat room I've decided to send the cheque back to Cards Customer Services with the following letter: Sound alright?
  18. *bump!* Anyone got any ideas what I should do about the cheque detailed above? Thanks.
  19. If you use NatWest Online Banking, you should be able to see your loan details in there, which will include a Sort Code and Account Number - simply send a payment from your other bank account to your NatWest loan account (this is what I do by Standing Order every month to get around having to pay cash into my NatWest current account which I no longer use).
  20. A development! Received a letter from NatWest Cards Customer Services today, dated 20th November, which reads as follows: Now, I've already filed my claim which was deemed served on November 17th. Do you guys think I should send the cheque back with a letter saying I've filed the claim, or cash the cheque and advise the court that the defendant has paid £42.00, and my claim should be lowered by this amount (minus the interest that has accrued since November 15th)? I would of course copy any letter to the court to NatWest. The cheque is payable simply to my name, no restriction on what account I can pay it into.
  21. No, I hadn't - forgot that bit. Thanks for the reminder!
  22. OK, got my claim number - 6RG07087, deemed served on 17th November 2006.
