  1. I had the last 2 payments to make on my council tax and got a letter reminding me i hadn't paid and i had a week to pay before being taken to court and the full amount becoming payable. I made the payment although it was a little over a week after the reminder. this was on the 29th Jan. I then would have been left with `1 last payment. I went on holiday then to come home to find a sumons for the 2 payments plus 50 court costs. The date of issue was 3rd Feb, 5 days after making the payment, by card over the phone. Can i get out of paying court costs as they obviously didn't check the account before issuing?
  2. I had a ring from the bank (Barclays) this morning from there collections dept telling me i was overdrawn, she then noticed i'd been paid today so was back in credit. It must take a day or so to register on their system. She went on to ask me if i was in any financial difficulties and i must make sure i stay with in my credit limit as being refered to their collections dept will affect my credit rating. On checking my Experian report today i only have 5 credit accounts. 1 loan, 1 credit card, 1A&L bank account i closed last year, virgin and British gas. How can they affect my credit rating? Is Experian missing it off? I've had the account since i was 14.
  3. Best of luck to you. I'm doing exactly the same. A&L was my parachute account but i'm now owed £115. My prelim letter went in with charges yesterday.. i'll race you.lol. I also need to get started with round 2 Barclays, Virgin Media, Barclaycard... i'd better get busy.
  4. ok, thanks for that. i'll take this as a lesson in sneaky insurance tactics.
  5. I had my home insurance with a company called master quote i think it was. i'd paid by DD and hadn't realises i'd gone over the 12 months as they'd just kept taking the money. I've canceled the DD but they now want £45 cancelation fee. Is this normal and my fault or is it worth a fight?
  6. I applied for a loan the other day as i've been looking for one for a while for home improvements but i've not been happy with the APRs and fees. While on the phone to one broker at the start of the call she told me the call was being recorded. We went through the loan application and she phoned me back a little while later with an good offer. At the start of that call i was also advised that the call was being recorded. The APR was 9.9% and there were no fees. I recieved the paper work for the loan today and the APR is 16.6% with 425quid worth of fees. I've phoned them today regarding this but the lady dealing with my claim is out. Can i get a copy of the phone conversation we had as i'd like to make a complaint to OFT and or FSA. thanks.
  7. If all else fails i'll just drop down to a £10 a month tarrif and pay that... then i'll give Sky a go.
  8. OK i'm not sure if you realised but your in the telecoms and mobile forum... a good gues but not the one. you eant the Bank Charges Forum.
  9. I had the same thing happen to me ages ago... they made me an offer but not for the full amount. I took it but it was along time ago and before i'd found the consumer power from places like this
  10. I've been having problems with them form day 1. I signed up online but as i kept having these problems that they wouldn't address i refused to sign the customer agreement with them evenj after numerous reminders.. Now 4 month down the line i've had enough and i want out!! Can i return their gear and quit as i'm not really in a legaly binding contract am i?:? thnaks
  11. Hi, I helping a bloke from work with his claim with LTSB. Before interest and costs his claim is for £5915. Could i try and go down the small claims still or shall i tick the fast track on the AQ. I've only ever done small claims so this puts me a little out of my comfort zone.
  12. Well I got home yesterday to find a letter on the mat for BC with an offer £129.. thank you now it's just the other £300 to go. Could someone get me a link to the contractual interest spread sheet, I only have a basic card so would i be claiming 24.9%. Is there also a template that takes into account the fact that some money has been repaid? Thanks Rob
  13. Not a word from Barclaycard and their 2 weeks is up so LBA is on the way. Rob
