  1. I know how you feel pinkglitter, theres good info and support here - feels like someone has given me a stepladder thats put me on the same level as these bullys - maybe a bit taller ! As for unlawful/illegal, i think I have used a mixture of both in my letters - probably when i deviated a bit from the template What can i say, i got excited !
  2. Address removed - So eager to post that i didnt think that through ! Thanks lads ! Well i think halifax are reluctant to do much before an LBA because they know the procedure we have. Lisa watched the BBC program so i can assume other people in halifax did. I would send an LBA reminding them that they only have another 14 days. They WILL call im sure - make sure you turn down their first paltry goodwill gift of half the charges back When they call they will tell you all the charges were applied correctly and they are in the right. All you have to say is Your regime of charges is illegal and you want the FULL amount.
  3. OK heres the letter from lisa slater confirming my refund. Note how she calls it a goodwill gesture and not an out of court settlement !
  4. Oh your post is here hillards.. i got your PM as well though and replied to it ! All my letters went to Leeds but i dont have Lisas location - was pretty excited at the time to calmly take details ! I am scanning the letter for everyone though when it comes !
  5. Just the repayment of charges. I did launch this claim without looking at the big picture (interest) Was too hasty. However, now i am confident - i have another claim to launch - Llloyds TSB for £400 - i will make sure i calculate interest Thanks for support guys !
  6. Hello all ! I have sent two letters to halifax. An initial letter demanding £192 in charges A LBA demanding £192 with a deadline of 27 December 2006 The first letter produced a standard response. The LBA just five minutes ago produced a call offering me a "goodwill gesture" of £100 which i politley rejected, referring her to the recent item on BBC Breakfast with that amazing guy at moneyexpert OK UNBELIEVABLE - Lisa Slater, and i have her permission to quote her name has JUST called again - I am getting a letter which when signed by me and returned - will get me a FULL refund !!! my hands are shaking !!!! Im getting £192 back ! she was lovely !! wow !! im on a high !!!!!

  8. NatWest must be a fair bank then.. you're lucky. However in Barclays we were briefed .. &quote "refunds will come out of YOUR bonus pot". Joan .. please dont snap at me - this section of the forum is for info on the workings of banks from employees and past employees - I simply gave a fact. If you or anyone else doubts the pressure front line staff are under at barclays.. call 08457 555 555 and ask them what an "off track stepchange" is. Then ask them what an "IVR deficit" is. And then.. as you take them over their average handling time target, ask if they are "on track" with the number of home insurance/car insurance referrals they HAVE to give. THEN.. say the name MUMBAI. All i am saying is there is pressure when it comes to refunds.. so write , dont call
  9. Hello, might as well use this to greet you all as well - im getting my claims against halifax ready thanks to this awesome site ! Will keep you all updated ! I worked in a barclays call centre until recently and have a bit of info on their refund procedures as they were when i was employed. I refunded customers charges on many occasions over the telephone.. i could only do it once as a "courtesy" if they had no charges in 12 months.. anymore required me to write an essay to the support team. Heres the kicker... in 2004 we had an anti-refund meeting , and we were told by a team leader that ANY refunds given by us would come out of OUR bonus pots. So if you call a barclays telephone banking rep about charges- please consider the strain they will be under, the management play the poor front line advisors off against the customers. At that time Barclays simply offset the loss of charges by penalising its employees. I hope the policy has changed.. it might have now since they have offshored some capacity to India.. no bonus pots there for sure. Anyway, its the Halifax in my sights.. see ya !
