  1. I used my visa electron to pay for goods in Primark on the 20th October and when I checked my statement online today I noticed they debited the same amount again 3 days later Now I know they realised their mistake as they put the money back into my account on the 25th October but in the between time the bank charged me £30 as the second amount debited took me overdrawn. I approached the bank about this charge today and they said as it was the stores mistake it was down to the store to refund the charge. Do I go along to my not so local store and approach them about refunding the charge or should I send a letter to Head Office?
  2. Back in 2000/2001 I ran away from my debts due to mental health issues with my husband and depression on my part however I am tired of living looking over my shoulder but am also terrified of people starting to bang on my door. I am trying to take some responsibility for my sanity and for my family. I have been told that I can check my credit file without people banging the door but dont know where to start and would appreciate any advice
  3. am I right in thinking that my next letter goes into Barclays on Monday (23rd)?
  4. thanks for the info, they have cashed the cheque but still not sent me the info I requested so I am just going to sit tight until they contact me again
  5. hmmmm no reply from them and the cheque hasnt been cashed either ??
  6. Well I have had a response this morning from Barclays, here's what they've said Thankyou for your letter recieved at this office 11 October. I am sorry you are unhappy with the charges you have incurred and one of my team will contact you as soon as possible. May I take this opportunity to explain that whilst we endevour to respond to you within the timescale outlined in your letter, we cannot guarantee to do so. Sometimes it does take longer to fully investigate a complaint. However we do aim to find a soloution within 4 weeks. If we are not able to do so we will always write to you explaining what is happening. A full report or an update of our progress will be sent to you within 8 weeks. Should you wish to discuss the matter further, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0207 116 4561. Sincerely, Mike Brophy
  7. looks like I'll be claiming the 8% at court then, my letter and spreadsheets have just gone in the post!
  8. from what I understand you dont add any interest unless it goes to court then you add 8% to your spreadsheet
  9. lol never mind - its sorted out now thanks
  10. I am using Vampiresses simple spreadsheet no 2 (reccomended if no balance detail) and it has an interest rate on there of 18.20% - is that right??? its bringing up a heck of a lot of interest on my charges
  11. thanks just sorting out my spreadsheet
  12. Well I was shocked that my statements hit the doormat this morning! I have double checked and between the 2 accounts I hold (current and savings) there is nearly £2000 in charges. Do I need to deal with each account seperately or can I do it as one claim?
  13. Well I recieved my reply from Peter Townsend this morning (my letter 2/10 - his 4/10 that was fast!) blah blah we will supply your statements in the next few weeks blah blah as the bank is providing the copies on a compliamentary basis your payment is returned. Although they have said that some statement information for the period prior to and possibly during 1999 to 2000 is manually stored on microfiche and does not fall within the data subject provisions of the DPA -is that right? thus the journey of a thousand miles has begun
  14. thanks LondonPam, I sent a cheque off to them today with a letter asking them to confirm they recieved the last 2 payments and to confirm what I now owe so I can send payment accordingly.
  15. can anyone help please? I feel a little worried about the lack of contact.
