  1. I received the following text and link in an email. Does anyone know how accurate this is? 'For most unsuspecting graduates who are paying back their student loans, the inland revenue takes payments directly from your employer in the same way as they take tax. i.e. the more you earn the more you pay, this includes bonuses etc. However after taking monthly amounts the inland revenue does not pay this directly to the student loan company, instead they wait until the end of the financial year in April and then pay the entire year off to student loans. The effect of this is that the inland revenue hold on to your monthly payments for up to a year earning themselves interest. During the same period, because student loans have not received these funds, they in turn charge the graduate interest on the outstanding amount even though it has been paid to the inland revenue.Bottom line is that for those in this position we pay interest to student loans on money which has been taken from our accounts which the inland revenue keeps and earns interest on.I have researched this and there are others who have become aware of this and I plan to join the fight! As a start I strongly suggest you sign up to the online petition below. I am looking into the legality of what is being done to us as I can see no other description for this other than THEFT!!!!Sign up now and join the fight. Send this to everyone!I will be forwarding dates for the march on Parliament! http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Student-loans/'
  2. Alison has been very helpful in regards to a problem I had with a Bailiff. The problem has not been resolved yet but it is still early days. I would advise anyone who needs help in regards to bailiffs, especially if you need immediate advice and can not wait for an answer in these forums, to take advantage of their service. Finally a public thank you to Alison and her team for the help they have provided, and keep on providing, for me.
  3. A good way to get things done would be to forget about going through the pay chain. Go through your normal chain of command to complain about the pay staff. If this does not work go through the welfare chain i.e the Padre. Tell him about the worries and problems this has caused. He has a great deal of influence regarding this sort of thing, if he gets his teeth sunk into it things will happen. I would not worry too much about recrimination. If you are correct and you have not had your pay sorted since July your sub unit/unit commander will be seriously unhappy. If your unit commander is not worried about this sort of thing (unlikely) then something is very seriously wrong!
  4. Sorry to be impatient but can anyone help me with this. I would really like to get a letter off today if at all possible but I am not sure where I stand in relation to the CCA.
  5. Jimfishybob - Did you have any joy with finding the statement? Anybody - can you help with what my next action should be?
  6. Black Horse have got back to me today. They sent a letter that said the following: Agreement No: xxxxxxxx Dear Mr XXX I enclose a copy of your credit agreement as requested. Should you have any further queries please telephone us on the number given above, or alternatively contact the Custumer Accounting Department in writing ensuring you quote your full number as stated above I trust this is satisfactory, thanks but not really - see below! Your Sincerly, XXXXXXXX The letter was not dated however I have retained the envelope. Is this deliberate? They have sent me a copy of the first page (page 1 of 2) of the credit agreement however some things don't seem right with me. Firstly although this is a signed copy it seems they were trying to hide something with the previous faxed page they sent me where my signature was covered up. The bottom of the page shows that the document was faxed to Black Horse in December 2004. Is it ok to do this or should they be able to copy the original document? They have not included the terms and conditions (page 2 of 2). Page 1 of the credit agreement even states that terms and conditions are on page 2. I was under the impression that they had to send the whole agrrement for a CCA request. Also although I can't remember don't you usually sign all pages of any agreement? My question is where do I go now? Are they still in the original 14 day period until they send my terms and conditions? If so should I write to them and let them know or should I just wait for the 14 days and calender month to expire and then let them know? Or should I phone them as invited to? As to the status of the car on the HPI list things are no clearer to me as they have not sent the terms and conditions, however the top of the page does say: Plan:PERSONAL LOAN Scheme number XXX Does this mean it shouldn't be on the HPI list as I have a personal loan agreement with Black Horse? Again thank you in advance for any help with this. Josh
  7. They won't charge you anything to give you advice on the phone and they will give you a quick answer to your question. They may also take your case on for free, so you have nothing to lose by calling them up.
  8. You should contact these people as soon as possible, they should be able to help. [link removed] please do not post links to commercial sites
  9. Jim, Thank you very much. I will post further details when I recieve the agreement. Josh
  10. I have a car loan from the Black Horse on which I currently owe £5000. It is my intention to sell the car and settle the debt. The problem I have is that Black Horse have placed the car on the HPI list because "they have an interest in the car". They deny that the agreement I have with them is a HP agreement. I asked them to send me a copy of the agreement which they did - sort of. They sent me a faxed page, half of which has not copied properly. The document contains no info on terms and conditions, no signatures and no dates. I have two questions really. Firstly am about to send a letter asking for a copy of my agreement (as per the template and with a £1.00 cheque). Just to confirm this is the right step at this stage. Secondly once I recieve a copy of my agreement how do I go about getting my car off the HPI list. I have already paid off half the money so I although I think i have a loan I will be more than happy if it turns out to be a HP agreement.
