    Can I Claim

HI I have a natwest credit card which I have always paid off in time using direct debit. I lost my card a few months ago and ordered a new one. I recieved it and carried on using it as usual. I spent some time abroad with work and when I came back I had a letter from them saying that they had charged me £20 for late payment. I called up an asked why and they said my bank cancelled the direct debit( I also bank with natwest but they are two seperate enitities). I calle dup my bank and they said that the card was cancelled and I was issued a new account number. The credit card company did not tell me that I had a new number and would have to resign the direct debit form. In fact they didnt even send me a new direct debit form until I asked them too. As this was not my fault do I have a case for complaint Regards

  9. Hi I am new to this forum and was directed by someone from Money Saving Expert. The problem I have is the following: I am currently trying to fix my credit rating due to a mistake made by the Abbey National bank. My brother defaulted on a loan for one reason or another and between the credit reference agencies and the bank it self they have put this on my credit file. My brother and I have similar names but very different birth dates. I have contacted the Abbey and they have admitted to the mistake but have said that the credit reference agencies should be responsible for this. When I have contacted them they have said it is because of the Abbey. I have now had a number of searches done on me because I was not aware of this straight away. This has caused me a great deal of problem as I have been charged higher rates for my lending even declined on most occassions. The most recent being turned down by Abbey for a mortgage solely because of my credit rating which they have caused ( They agreed to the mortgage initially agreeing to to take note of their mistake. Then they declined for number of searches I have on credit file. I lost £230 valuation fee £250 solicitor search fees and ultimately the flat) I currently estimate that I have been out of pocket by around £15k along with all the personal distress that has been caused to many of my relationships. I would now like to tackle and this situation legally and hoped that somebody will be able to advise me on the best route to take. I have contacted a few solicitors and after telling them my problem they never call me back. As you can imagine all this is happenig through no fault of my own and because companies do not want to clear up their own mistake. Any help will be appreciated I look forward to hearing from you. sb007
