  1. thankyou sooooooooooooo much I will get onto it first thing tomorrow xxxxxxxxxxx
  2. surely if I move my money into a new account they will just keep adding charges and taking them making the account more and more overdrawn ????
  3. Hi, Is there any way to stop A & L from taking charges from my account as they are literally taking the christmas dinner from my childrens mouths ????????????
  4. hi there x will do it now as think labour is imminent and hubby wont know which letters to send. will keep you all informed as and when poss, Sharon xx
  5. Hi there xx I have only had an account with A & L for 6 months which I had to open when I won £4,500 approx from barclays as they were not keen on me keeping my account with them. But due to 3 kids and 1 on the way 2 months ago I went £2.36 overdrawn since then A&L have stung me for £142 in charges. I sent them a request for repayment giving them 14 days which ran out today so after checking my account discovered that they have refunded 2 lots of £25 but have not written to me at all except to put on the bottom of my statement that they intend to take 2 lots of £25 away on the 29th march for last month being £5.06 OD (due to their charges I might add !! ) I am a little unsure of what to do now:confused: . A little advice would be gratefully recieved . Sharon xx
  6. hi anyone xx I am still preggers, due any day but been very poorly but thought ity was time to update you while I have one hand free. Sent request for refund of charges and had a letter thanking me and saying basically they are on the case , then had letter a few days later saying its obviously not our fault but in line with the oft ruling that charges should not exceed £12 they would refund me the difference of £3 per charge plus 8% interest, I am not sure whether to accept this and leave it at that or whether to pursue the rest . Any advice would be gratefully recieved Cheers Sharon xx
  7. hi Sarah, got my statements and have about £190 in letter charges so will get on their cases in the new year. I am having a boy which is fab as we have 2 boys aged 10 and 6 and a girl aged 16months, the boys are so easy, laid back and cuddly but my little drama queen will only hug when she's not busy wrecking the boys games or turning out cupboards, so another boy is a blessing. I hope you all had a lovely christmas ours was hectic but loads of fun. Speak soon. Sharon x
  8. Hi Sarah, I will keep an eye on the post but I doubt I will see anything this year !!. I hope you have a lovely christmas with your 3 gorgeous smalls, I have 3 too and number 4 due in March. Stay in touch re: M & S, sent my SAR on 13th Dec so 40 days runs out on 21st Jan I think ??. Good luck with your other claims I succeeded with Hsbc & Barclays myself recently. Sharon x ( my names not really Bumface!!)
  9. Hi x Have sent SAR to M & S with £10 cheque, got a letter this morning and am a tad confused and concerned I hope someone can help me. The letter says that they feel an SAR would supply more information than I need, however it is this paragraph that really concerns me. " You state that a complete set of statements for that period would be acceptable as an alternative as this would provide you with the information you require regarding any fees we may have charged to your account for letters, telephone calls ect. As there is currently no charge for this type of service( it says copy statements are £5 each on the back of my statements !!!) I have arranged for your £10 payment to be offset against your account." It goes on to say a lot of blah blah about the oft and how they are cooperating and they feel the charges to be fair and reasonable. So am I going to get my statements at all and can they just take my £10 ????? Please please help xx:-x
  10. yes bookworm, every last penny. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and everyone else who is fighting for their money xxx great idea about the assertiveness course too !!!
  11. Good morning x Gave hubby a list of what he was allowed to say but the postman saved us by delivering a letter from Barclays which reads ; in reference to your claim. As you will have seen from our defence, we consider that your claim lacks merit and that it will fail. In particular, we disagree with your legal analysis that the charges levied to your account with Barclays amount to penalty clauses and are unfair. We do, however, recognise that the sum at issue between us is relatively modest and as such, it is not cost effective for either party to take this matter to trial. Therefore, in order to avoid the inevitable time and cost associated with persuing the claim to trial, we are prepared to settle your claim upon payment of the charges applied to your account, together with statutory interest and costs totaling ££££ subject to the terms set out in this letter. This offer to pay ££££ is in full and final settlement of your claim and is strictly without any admission of liability on our part. If you agree blah, blah, blah..... This amount includes our AQ cost which we did not even ask for.
  12. Thanks for the support x I will unleash all my pent up pregnant hormones on hubby if he lets us down !!! I have worked too long and hard to get this far and give an inch.
  13. I will fight for every penny and this just shows they dont want to go to court, unfortunately they keep calling my husband who is a soft touch. We have 3 smalls already and another due in March so we need the extra £400 if only to buy a telly (He He !!!) I think they will be praying on alot of people in the run up to xmas who may not be as strong.
  14. Hi Anyone Could anyone please help me convince my husband that we should hold out for the full amount. We are claiming £4,400ish on 2 ac's combined our court date is 26th feb and our directions hearing is for the 19th dec. my husband got a call at work from barclays legal team today offering us £2,700ish but as she only quoted 1 ac number he said no and she said she would check the figures and call him back. I have worked really hard for the last 7 months and he is saying if she offers £4,000 we should take it but I think it is really important to hold out for every last penny. Please help or i might hit him on the head !!!!
  15. hi Jackie x I am expecting my fourth baby in march and also have a court date with Barclays on the 26th feb 07, we also have a directions hearing on the 19th December. My husband had a phonecall from Barclays legal team today offering us £2,700 but as our claim is for £4,400ish thankfully he said noas she also seemed a bit confused as to our specific case and only quoted one ac number but our claim is for 2 ac's combined, and she has said she will call him again tommorrow with a revised figure as they would like to sort this out before the 19th, so things are looking up. My only concern is that they are praying on the the fact that alot of people will be short of money for xmas and will lose out, my husband also worries me as he keeps saying if she offers a figure closer to our claim but I really really think its important to get it right to the penny, how can I convince him (without resorting to violence)that every last penny counts of our claim counts ?????. Sharon (Bumface)
