  1. How did you get on? I am really struggling with the spreadsheets, they seem really confusing! I think it must be me,you need to fill in, amounts, dates, howe long ago,I would love for someone to say now,it really isn't that hard...
  2. this sounds terrible, I have had a thread going for quite some time, and I haven't a clue of how to get back on to it! I have my bank statements for the past six years, but I am really struggling with the prelim spreadsheet,do you really have to enter, how many days since each charge was??? I have 'looked' at the basic customer of banking sheet, that is all I really need!! I know at this stage that you do not enter the 8%,that to me is a bonus, that I know!!Can anyone help, I have been determined to do this for ages, but,I have to admit I need some guidance, I will be very grateful for any help received....
  3. Thanks for your reply, I must be stupid, I 'live' from my overdraft really, and I have just dug out an old statement, to claim the interest do you mean at the end of the statement, where it says 'overdraft interest' then 'total charges'. Does that mean this charge only goes on if you exceed your o/d limit, or is it for having the o/d????? Then again that wouldn't be fair as I pay that stupid account fee, for having an o/d???? OH, NO I AM RREALLY GETTING CONFUSED!!!! I thought I had it worked out from days of reading other threads and the FAQ's.... And the spreadsheets, well I had a look at them before, how the heck do you do that, my charges are all from going over my o/d, do you just put your own details in, and I think I know now that you don't put in the 8% column, that is for later on, isn't it??? Well, I would be very grateful for anyone that could break all of this down for me, many thanks in advance,,
  4. Hiya everyone, I have finally received my bank statements this morning, that is why I haven't added any new posts lately, as I have not had any news, until today. Right, the next thing I need to do is, complete a schedule of charges from the library documents, and send the prelimenary request for repayment of charges, is that correct. I know everyone asks this question, but, I start reading one thread and then another and so on, I then end up reading too much information at once!!! This issue or interest that can and can;t be reclaimed is confusing each time that I read it. Let's see if I have got it right, you add the interest charged on the overdraft to the charges that are to be claimed back. The 8% 'thing' is only once things have gone further. (I hope this makes sense). Many thanks for any replies out there...
  5. I will do that then, I will go into my local branch 'armed' with my account no, and request the past 6 years worth of statements, and mention on 'the off chance' it is £5 per request for the copies of statements. Wish me luck, I should start getting somewhere soon!!! Many thanks Natwest staff member...
  6. Brilliant plan, bit confused though,If I went into my local branch then 'armed'with my account no, and your know how, requested the statements. (Iwent to the big branch yesterday) It should work???!!!
  7. just a quick update I have received the 'complimentary letter' from Peter Townsend today stating that 'the bank is under no obligation to present information according to any particular format, therefore, my request for a schedule of charges is 'turned aside'. According to the rest of the letter I will be receiving copy statements, where I can obtain this information, within the NEXT few weeks, we will see!!! I was also quite gobsmacked with the reply I got to the question that I believed ther must of been manual intervention, into my account, to explain the charges, which said, 'the bank is not obliged to comment on internal policies and procedures'. Does anyone know what happens next????
  8. I had the same trouble, and with a lot of help from the 'natwest staff member' I found out my account no. and sort code. All you have to do is tell the person you are speaking to is that you are in dispute with a company and that you are going to need past bank statements. You will receive a lot of negative feedback that they can't do it, but as long as you can prove your identity, and have a rough idea as to when you opened and closed the account THEY can find your details on the Natwest archive. I couldn't remember when I opened my account, it must of been early 90's approx, closed in 03. So my advice is go for it, if they have your money, go in and ask for your details. The one thing I can warn you about is, they will try and charge you with massive charges for supplying the copy statements, just say, it is £5 per request for them or you will seek a S.A.R. to access the past statements which will cost you £10. I could not have helped anyone out there if it wasn't for the 'Natwest staff member'. Iwill keep you informed of my progress, and hope to hear from anyone with similar experiences, and we can do this together!!!
  9. Hello there Natwest staff member I hope you have received my message, I would be glad to help others in the same boat, apparently the assistant bank manager is off today and tomorrow, and that is why I have no news at the moment, thing is though what or how do I explain I know that it is only £5 per request? I KNOW she is going to ask!!!
  10. Yes I do, luckily! That was a bit hard to get out of her, she said she had found it, but wouldn't tell me it until I asked what it was. I hope she doesn't get a bit shirty, and suss on to why I want them...
  11. What would you suggest I do next then, should I dispute it with her, try again in another branch or post S.A.R? I think this was plotted whilst she was 'copying' my i.d, it took an awfuly long time!!!! Thank you for your reply and help...
  12. Hello Nat west staff member, OH BOY DO I HAVE THINGS TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE RESPONSE I GOT FROM THE BANK TODAY!!!! First of all I took as much I.D as I could except I couldn't find my marriage cert. Anyway, with a lot of 'ooh's' & 'aah's', the assistant manager did eventually find my details, then told me they are unable to go very far back, so i said could I have copies from 99', she said it would cost me £5 for every 6 months worth of copy statements, she said I could have them for £30!! i only really want them from about 2001, can she really charge me £30? I now have to find my marriage cert, for her to copy.Should I just send S.A.R. letter now I know account no. or like she said is it going to be difficult to get hold of them as I no longer have an account? Thank you for any suggestions!!
  13. I have just been reading through your thread, and been getting quite confused, I have a credit card with Abbey, under MBNA, can anyone tell me who do I send a S.A.R letter to? There seems to be too many names and addresses for me, here, which one is it I post too? Many thanks for a reply and I will un subsribe from your thread, sorry about that...
  14. Hiya, it is me again MISS NERVOUS! I sent my S.A.R letter on friday, what happens next, do I wait and sit out the next 40 days or phone the customer relations manager in London to confirm the receiving of my letter, it just seems a long time to wait and see if they reply, I did send it recorded delivery. I am sorry if this seems trivial, I have read the FAQ's, it different though when you actually doing it!!
  15. Thank you to all who are resonding to my queries, this is all so new to me, and quite exciting!! I am very grateful to your tips and 'know how'. So, this can be done then? I will keep you all informed. Guess where I am going tomorrow? Yep, I am going to get the ball rolling and go into my local Natwest, wish me luck, and I will keep you informed, and ask for help, no doubt, along the way! thank you all
