  3. Hi guys, Will try and keep it brief! I paid off several credit cards a few months back, sending cheques direct from a finance company after taking out a loan. 2of these were to Barclaycard, I cancelled all my direct debits and forgot about them, as far as I am concferned there paid off and closed, cards cut up, gone..... Then I get a 'late payment fee' letter from Barclaycard regarding these 2 accounts and I find out that they didnt pay off/clear these 2 accounts they instead credited my Santander bank account. ..I did not realise this straight away as I had taken out a £12,000 loan which was paid into my account the same week as I sent the cheques off . (proof has been provided from the finance company to Barclaycard). I had kept no tabs on my spending/bank account.. I realise the error, call them up and they are really sorry, etc, its totally their fault ...but of course these 2 debts need repaying minus a small bit of compensation, of course they do. ...BUT they will not freeze the interest and as they are both such old accounts 6 years +, the interest is though the roof, both debts total around £1,200. I say freeze the interest and offered them £20.00 per month - this is all I can afford, as I am paying back a large amount to the loan company, that allowed me to pay off the 6 credit cards to begin with! Any advice would be great. Had a letter back from the FO today, they are looking into it but it will take 12 years but my credit file is taking a bashing as both of these are showing up on Equifax as late payments.
  4. Hi all, I want to pursue a negligence case against Northwick Park Hospital over the lack of treatment for gout, which has resulted in me being nearly crippled & needing new knees. Although I am confident I have a case for negligence on the hospitals part, I have been informed by my solicitor & the hospital that I may be out of time in respect of Limitation. My argument, one that the solicitor tentatively agreed with, is that although my first appointment was in 2001 I was not aware of the negligence until 2005, when I was forced through persistent pain in my knees to have an Arthroscopy which revealed the extensive damage to my cartilage, due to gout crystals. I demanded to see another consultant at a different hospital and was referred to Ealing. The consultant there read my notes and we discussed my case. He was appalled at the treatment I had received from NPH, and hence is treating me very differently (info if required). I have a lot more I could write but it would complicate matters. No one seems to want to take my case on, on a ‘no-win no-fee basis’. Do you think I have a chance with this if I were to pursue it paying the costs myself? Any advice, general or professional would be greatly appreciated. Regards Nick
  5. Hi Ruby, Have you sorted out your speadsheet problem yet? In my opinion you don't necessary need to use the spreadsheet its only their as a guidance thing. I work 4 days a week and have an energetic 2 year and could not find the time to enter all of the data, etc. (not too say its not helpful of course)...! To get a idea of all my unlawful charges, once I received all my statement through, I just totted them up with a calculator, and added interest of 8% APR and gave a near but rough amount to the court. I am currently suing Natwest, actually going for Default in the morning at the county court as they have NOT filed a defence or been in contact. Regards Kellyjo
  6. WILDSMITH V NATWEST I have finally had my claim served to Natwest via Watford County Court on 22nd March 2006 for £2226.00. Will keep you posted....
  7. I wrote to the Company Secretary at Natwest HO requesting all charges on my husbands account be returned, amounting to £2000. This morning I received this letter and today is 2 weeks to the day I allowed them timewise to return all charges, trying to be cute no doubt! Dear Mr Wildsmith, Re: account no: XXXXXXX Thank you for your letter received on the 16th February 2006 The OFT is currently in discussions with us and 7 other major credit card companies about the level of credit card administration charges. Whilst the OFT on 26th July 2005 expressed the provisional view that the level of these charges needs to be reduced in order to be fair, this view is only a provisional view and was formed on the basis of the information which the OFT had before it at that point in time and it is one that ourselves and the 7 other credit card companies concerned do not share. We believe that our administration charges are fair and we are committed to sharing the transparency of those charges. Accoringly we do not consider that any refund of the charges is due. Yours sincerely, Kay Standidge Solicitor
