  1. Interestingly the opposite happens in my NafWest business account. My employer makes my salary BACs payment on the 14th of each month, which this year was of course, a bank holiday and so technically shouldn't be "in" my account until Tuesday 18th, however it was available to spend on the Friday. This happens with all weekend "deposits" How totally weird and unusual (for banks) is that?
  2. This is who I got my reply from to PDA letter: Mr S Clintworth, Barclays Bank Plc, Retail Banking Customer Relations Leicester LE87 2BB 0845 7555555
  3. Sent my DPA letter for my business account closed several years ago on 9th March. Just about to post a reminder when the statements arrived in the post on 25th March. Not bad and nothing paid. Statements show more information than the usual statement, such as cleared fund etc. So letter sent to today requesting £675 refund of charges over past 6 years. Do you think they will be as quick to refund?
  4. Interesting tone of letter. Notice that they put the emphasis on "your disgust with the fee being levied" or words to that effect. We all accept the terms and conditions when we sign the agrrement/contract whatever. wee are not arguing about that, its the extreeme level of fee charged that we object to. They don't seem to have got it do they ?(or are not admitting it) Making you look the guilty party!
  5. Had a reply today, to my DPA letter sent to Cutomer Relations at Boreham Wood . They sent me a standard Right of Subject Access form to complete and return to my branch, with £10 payment. Why they just couldn't accept the letter I sent which actually contains MORE information? Interestingly the reply wanted to know specifically which charges I am disputing. I sent the standard libray DPA letter which makes no mention of charge disputes, merely a request for information and data held. Weird?
  6. Yep NafWest always do this. The ONLY positive thing NafWest do on a business account is early credit. My pay is due 14th of every month by BACs. If that falls on Sat or Sun, the money is always availbe from the Saturday, I don't have to wait until the Monday. Apart from that the service is rubbish
  7. Yep the tone is direct and straight to the point. It is is not rude or offensive. Just think of the tone the letter from your bank takes informing of the charge for that failed direct debit.
  8. Contact details as shown on Barclays' website Customer Relations Barclays Bank PLC 1 Churchill Place FREEPOST LON13542 London E14 5HP
  9. If claiming a large amount of unlawful charges over the past 6 years (it may be upt to £3,000) might it be better to split the amount claimed, say £1500 for 3 years, if sucessful then claim the remaining 3 years/£1500? I would have thought a bank might be more willing/less reluctant to pay up a smaller amount in the first instance. Plus you get the double the joy of getting one over on the bank if sucessful first time!
  10. Well, gentlemen, I have read the FAQ from top to bottom again (code 586GJKEE4) and cannot find anything that deals specifically with my question. I apologise if the answer is obvious and I'm missing it. For the meantime. I will take it the level of transgression is not a factor. A damn good site, chaps.
  11. I cannot find mention of this on any thread or FAQ. When considering which punitive charges to claim back, what is considered a punitive charge i.e. the level of charge relative to the level of “transgression"? For example, a £25 bounced direct debit, which attracts a £29 fee from the bank, is punitive. How about a £125 or a £525 transgression? Or does the level of transgression not matter? Thanks in anticipation of a reply.
