  1. Sent SAR plus £10 - 17/11/06. Response today from Rachel Claridge, Assistant Vice President. 2 page diatribe re MBNA’s rights to charge, blah, blah, blah. However, say have not treated request as S.A.R because they provided info ‘free of charge’ & credited £10 to ‘my account’. Card paid off in full in Feb 06 & let sent to close my A/c. How can they credit the £10 to my account, if it doesn’t exist? As a goodwill gesture offered £70 & my £10 = £80 which doesn’t equate to amounts they have taken over the years. Do I respond asking them to provide info as S.A.R and give them 40 days from 17/11? Has ne1 else had this type of response from MBNA?
  2. Am about to start my action against Nationwide and will keep you all posted as to whether or not they close my account.
  3. I am about to start my campaign against Nationwide to recover the charges they unlawfully imposed on my account. I noticed on the intro that amongst the ones to 'bite back' so to speak, includes Nationwide. Does anyone have any success stories, tips, etc. I would be glad to hear from you. Am new, but thanks to all contibutors. I believe I saw something about overdrafts at the former bankchargesfromhell website before it was discontinued. My concern is that (apart from the fact that my indebtedness has been caused in large part by the charges levied on my account, sounds familiar?) I dont want to get stuck should N.wide close my account. I have taken the precaution of opening another account elsewhere, but dont want to lose any monies (which I will need) by repaying N.wide's overdraft. Is there something about who has a greater lien on salary? Advice would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work. I have only realised since I found out about this forum via Guardian Money that it may be possible to reclaim charges prior to the 6 year limitation in contract. I was in business with my former husband in the mad 1990's when we had (many of you will remember, I am sure) a recession. We had business banking with National Westminster. We were hit with charges you would not believe (10 letters in 1 day! advising they would be charging, £27.50 for sending each letter, etc.). Is there any redress post the 6 years limitation. I would be grateful for any assistance. Because of what National Westminster did, they put us out of business (in their race to increase their profits and claw back the bad investments they made in the Third World).
  4. Hi folks Am new here, so I hope you dont mind my putting my 2 pennies worth in!. I agree with Vampiress. Go to Court. It may sound trite, but Court staff are very helpful and judges are always sympathetic to what's called Litigants in Person. (No, I am not a lawyer, either, I have some basic knowledge, that's all). Judges do not like the attitude that the man in the street can be browbeaten by the big organisations. The most difficult thing is actually going to the Court itself, but like most stressful situations once you make up your mind to do it, that's the first step. If you go to Court you will know exactly what's happening on your case and after all, you wouldnt want to miss the best bit - when they lose!! Loopy
