Hi all. All I can see on my business account statements are a few entries under 'auto' - some called 'interest' (i'm guessing these are unauthorised overdraft fees), some called 'maintainance fee' and then a final total called 'commission'. This occurs each month. Is this what I am looking for as far as charges go?

I had a Barclays business account when I was on New Deal. The account slipped into the red and, long story short, I ended up having to close the account and pay around £500-£600 out of my own pocket to pay it off. I got a default as well. This was in around 2002-03. I wrote to Barclays on July 24th and October 24th asking for statements and threatening to sue and so on - none received. (I have a distant memory of them confirming the request, but it was a long time ago!). I wanted to ask what my best way forward is now. I have successfully sued Mint and HSBC (twice) so I know the procdure. Would I be best just sending a LBA for estimated damages of £600? I know I can sue for non-compliance, but is it really worthwhile? Would I squeeze any more cash out of them if I did? (That would give me great pleasure!).

My warrant has now been issued so I suppose I just sit and wait for the post! Thanks for the reply.

I have claimed on my current account and card, been refunded both times, and my accounts are still open. In fact I wanted a third account (basic) for household bills and they opened me one, and offered me a savings account at the same time! They are obviously not too fussy.

I opened a basic account with A&L recently, for depositing cheques via the post (easier than the post office). I went a few pence overdrawn and didn't notice, as I only ever pay cheques in and then transfer the money electronically to my other acount. Lo and behold, within approx 2-3 months they have charged me more than £125 for something that started as a few pence. I really will take this to the end of the road, having already won £600+ from HSBC and having issued a warrant to Mint yesterday! A&L can go ahead and close my account too - saves me the hassle of filling in the forms myself! Wish me luck.

I had a business account with Barclays which was closed after it went further and further into the red thanks to compound charges, during a difficult startup period. I requested statements on 24th July and today sent a letter saying "7 more days till I inform the courts". Has anyone else gone this far when statements have failed to appear?

I have been trying to get £160 of charges back from Mint (boosted by my £600 refund from HSBC). They acknowledged the claim but failed to file a defence, so I filed for judgement. Yesterday I paid for a warrant, but the status is still at 'requested'. I was wondering if anyone knows the procedure from here - i.e., are Mint likely to pay now? How long will it take? And do Mint have a history of closing accounts? (I only ask as I have just cleared the card to take advantage of a 1.9% balance transfer offer!).
