Hey, I'm in a confusing situation right now. And I've read countless of posts like this but still not quite close! My case is a little different. Here goes:
Ticket inspector came on the bus and I showed his card because that's what I used. I regret not showing my debit card.
He obviously asked to see the photo card which I didn't have. I said I left it at home accidentally and if he could just allow it. He said he has to follow the procedures so my card is now confiscated and I gave him some details.
Now. What makes my case different is that he said I can get a new card from the TFL office which is local to me. He didn't say what I need to provide and if I'll have to go through interrogation to get a new one. So I gave my husband's name and details hoping that the inspector wouldn't know that they're not mine, and hoping that it would be just a case of him turning up to the office proving his ID to retain a new one.
What I'm worried about is, do ticket inspectors have cameras or recorders attached to their visors? Do they write a physical description of who they encountered with a staff card without an ID?
I feel like if my husband turns up to the office and he is interrogated or it somehow known that a female was approached with the card, he wouldn't be able to pretend it was him in the scenario.
The inspector said the other option is I can await a letter from TFL, but i don't know what it will contain. Is it advisable waiting for the letter or turning up to the office to get a new one?
I've been feeling really unwell because of this happening. I would appreciate any guidance and help. I really just wanna know what the consequences would be if I am caught. This is the first time I've been approached by a ticket inspector.
