Hi CAG,
First of all just want to say thank you for your time and any advice.
I was caught a week ago using a freedom pass of a family member which I have used a total of 38 occasions over a month. When the revenue officer asked me which card I had used I took out my debit card and then he asked me again, which I then showed the pass. I was polite in the interaction and had apologised.
I really wish I had not used it and I was clearly really naive and did not have any idea it would cause this much stress.
In terms of mitigating circumstances, I work within healthcare and this would mean I lose my job, I have been under a lot of pressure from family since a serious sexual assault on a family member and my mental health has suffered.
I have instructed a lawyer to respond to the initial letter and outline how it isn’t in public interest to prosecute and my mitigating circumstances.
My question is, is there anything else I can do in the meantime?
Does anyone have the prosecutions team direct number?
Should I visit their head office to explain and grovel?
Thank you in advance!
