    Just wanted to send a quick thanks for this, I have actioned it and will keep you posted. Sorry for the delay in replying, my PC is a little temperamental at the moment. Incidentally, I got the notice of claims issue letter at the weekend from Lowells, surely that should come before the claim is set up with the court? It said that I should contact them as otherwise they 'may have to issue a CCJ' or something of that ilk, which is weird as surely that is what they have done anyway?

IKEA STORE CARD When did you enter into the original agreement before or after 2007? BEFORE 2007 Has the claim been issued by the original creditor or was the account assigned and it is the Debt purchaser who has issued the claim. DEBT PURCHASER Were you aware the account had been assigned – did you receive a Notice of Assignment? MAY HAVE RECEIVED IT, HAD A LOT OF DEBT AND MANY LETTERS DON'T REALLY SPECIFY ORIGINAL CREDITORS, GENUINELY CAN'T REMEMBER BUT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. Did you receive a Default Notice from the original creditor? SEVERAL LETTERS, NOT SURE IF ONE WAS A DEFAULT NOTICE, NOT RECEIVED ANYTHING FROM IKEA OR LOWELLS FOR SOME TIME IF I RECALL, ONLY PHONE CALLS/MESSAGES WHICH I DON'T REPLY TO AS I AM UNSURE OF WHICH DEBT IT REFERS TO BEFORE NOW. Have you been receiving statutory notices headed “Notice of Default sums” – at least once a year ? NOT SURE Why did you cease payments? AROUND 2 YEARS AGO, POSSIBLY A BIT MORE. What was the date of your last payment? I ESTIMATE (CAN'T OPEN ONLINE ACCOUNT AT MOMENT TO CHECK) AROUND EARLY/MID 2015 BUT COULD BE EARLIER. Was there a dispute with the original creditor that remains unresolved? NOT THAT I AM AWARE OF, JUST GOT STUCK MAKING PAYMENTS AND CEASED TO PAY DUE TO INTEREST AND GROWING DEBT. Did you communicate any financial problems to the original creditor and make any attempt to enter into a debt managementicon plan? NO Here is my reply, sorry for the delay, this is as much info as I can find at the moment. Sorry some answers are not terribly helpful, I genuinely got in a muddle a few years back due to ex not paying child support/other debts all being required which were more urgent and this fell by the wayside.... any advice most welcome

    Hi I see that Lowells feature frequently on here and would like some help with my response to the courts. I have received a CCJ claim form dated 27th January, it arrived yesterday, over an old ikea debt which is around £700. I had difficulty paying the instalments on time and then stopped altogether I know I am at fault and due to being a single mum on disability benefit with a mountain of debt at the time I just sort of buried my head in the sand. I understand that it leaves a bad record on my file but to be honest my credit record is probably screwed anyway since losing my job and so on... I was going to offer to pay something nominal like £2 a week since I am on benefits, or should I take alternative action/contest it, I had a text from Lowell today to say to get in touch but I don't understand why (and won't be calling them!) since they have already started the ball rolling with the courts in Northampton. Any advice would be much welcome, am useless at all this sort of thing and don't really know my rights, or ways forward. Thanks

    Thanks Mr P... the 'placement' they managed to find me in such a hurry (in the vain hope they could get their payment no doubt) was, according to the MAN1 letter, at the providers premises, doing litter picking, raking, planting and so on. They had tried to send me for an interview for another placement a week beforehand with a local social enterprise but it clashed with the sign on date/time at JC and presumably they were going to give me a new interview/placement info on my jobsearch session on the Tuesday 15/3 but I signed off on the phone the day before and told them Tues morning I would no longer be on CWP ... hence their sudden panic!!

    Yep, I plan to, I am going to contact the JC tomorrow and draft a letter to my MP (though can't imagine she will do much). It is wrong on so many counts, the fact I told them I wasn't on JSA anymore, the notice period given to start placement even if I was, the early start time and my childcare responsibilities, the fact that it is in no way shape or form a match for my skills and would be of no benefit to me... makes me mad just thinking about it. I bet they hate me as they lost out on a nice wad of cash, just a thought, who do you complain to in DWP, is there are specific department or do you go through JC in the first instance.. I am also going to complain to the council as the company is run by them.

    We totally lucked out when it came to our MP's didn't we!! Mind you, they are all so out of touch with the people they supposedly represent and it seems that all they care about is lining there own pockets, I can't even read about their expenses and stuff without feeling the fury at the injustice of it all making my blood boil!! How is it they can get away with all they take from the taxpayer with seemingly no legal repercussions if they are caught out, whereas we have to practically provide DNA to get a penny these days, from a system we have paid into for years.

    Hmm, you are probably right, I won't get my hopes up that she would help, anyone with a husband called Hereward is prob not going to be too sympathetic to the likes of me, one of those 'feckless single mums' as the lovely Daily Mail like to call us (note ... am not feckless)... the MP of my area looks to be Penny Mordaunt, from what I have heard of her, she won't be much better. I actually looked up the payment system of the CWP providers and its all such a bloody con... no wonder they were so keen for me to start this 'placement', which happened to be picking up crap in their grounds, it turns out they get 20% of their total fee if I start with a provider and begin a placement, even if for one day... so thats around £400 apparently, hmm, whats that smell again.....

    Yep, I think I will, the more I stew over it the more I can't believe how out of order it is, they are just doing it out of spite because they won't get their precious payment, dread to think what will happen if I don't get ESA!! They will probably make me parade around town in ball and chains with a sign saying 'here is useless feckless waste of space unemployed person'.. ooh don't want to say that too loudly, might give Mr Cameron ideas )

    Hi, Bit of advice for the future (should I need it) wanted. As per the above, I have definitely signed off JSA as of 13/3 and onto ESA 14/3, on 15/3 I cancelled a job search session at the CWP providers offices as I was no longer on JSA and they said they couldn't find a record of it and needed me to attend on 17th early in the morning as they had 'found me a placement'... needless to say I didn't attend. Well I get the MAN letter today at 5pm (late postman) and I was so mad, its irrelevant to me at this point but firstly my skills are in admin & secretarial and they had mandated me to do litter picking, raking etc etc on their premises, hardly beneficial to getting me suitable experience, secondly the times were from 7.30 am each morning until 11.30 am, I think this is because they are a) miffed and b) might have found out I reported the name of a placement company to a third party who created some bad PR... my question is for future ref really, as a single parent of a child that starts school at 9am, can they send me on a placement that early.. I have no transport so would need to leave at 6.30 every day and childcare that early is thin on the ground... also prior to this MAN notice, and given the time stated on it would require childcare, they made no mention of funding for this childcare should I have HAD to attend if I was on JSA, isn't that sort of thing paid up front or given with a bit more notice than the next day??? Hating them now, no wonder I am always ill, them and WP providers literally made me ill

    Hi Can anyone clear up my confusion about waiting days and if they apply to me if changing from IB JSA to IB ESA, with no breaks in the dates of claim, i.e. signed off JSA 13/3 and onto ESA on 14/3, I saw something online and am now wondering whether I will end up not being paid for some of the time?? Confusion??? :???:

    Thanks Antone, don't worry, I have no intention of attending and will take great pleasure in telling them that. I spoke to JC+ line this morning who confirmed I had signed off and am now on claim for ESA, and I know this is just the provider trying to pull a fast one, I had already seen some info saying during assessment phase there was no need to attend appts so I will be MORE than happy to tell them that in a moment when I call. Ta for your advice, its VERY much appreciated.

    Thanks, guys, what a nightmare... so I am going to phone up and just doublecheck but I don't have to attend the new appt on Thursday surely do I?? She was so gloating on the phone about the new time, and knowing it wasn't a time I could make with a young child .. grrrr, annoying too as I only called them as a courtesy despite having signed off. By the sounds of it, my area looks like a fun place to have an ESA claim.. NOT.. the dreaded Maximus, I used to do my work programme with them, can't get away from them eh!!

    Hi Can anyone please tell me if there is a delay between making the phone call to sign off JSA and it showing on their system?? I am transferring to ESA and called them yesterday, the JSA number first, and they said last date of JSA claim would be 13/03/16, and that I could start ESA claim for 14/03/16, so I phoned them next and started my claim. I was meant to have a job search session at my community work placement provider today at 10 and given I had signed off I gave them a courtesy call and said I would not be attending and told them the reason why and all seemed okay, then they called me back lunchtime and said they'd spoken to my work coach at the JC and she said there was no record of me signing off and that the CWP provider would be sending me out a new appt for 7.45am on 17/03/16, which is laughable as I am a single mum and would love to know where I can find a childminder at short notice to start at 7am, which pretty much goes against my JSA agreement anyway... I think they are just being spiteful as they were trying to hurry me into a placement and I put them off with a med appt and then this ESA claim has started up. I did have a similar problem when I had an EPS recently whereby the WP provider tried to raise a doubt because my sicknote wasn't on the system yet but I was covered by the dates when it was put on ... but I have never signed off JSA before so not sure what the process involves and the time limits etc. Any info welcome...ta x
