  1. hi, dx100uk, I don't follow, I just filled out form as best I could from memory. could you please explain about the employment status?? I am totally confused regarding all this! thanks in advance
  2. hi theoldrouge, following advice I gave the following reasons on FOS form: I now believe the insurance was unsuitable for me as I was in part-time employment (approx 20 hours p.w.) at the time I took out the policy and was not made aware of the specific exclusions relating to unemployment cover. •It was not explained to me that the policy premium would be paid upfront as a single premium and would be added to my debt and attract interest The advisor should have told me the full cost of the insurance so that I could tell it was affordable. •I was never asked if i had any other insurance which could cover the loan • I wasn’t told that I could buy PPI from another company. My husband at the time was unemployed which i informed to the advisor. what is your advice? thanks in advance .
  3. i cant truly remember but I have ticked the box opting for ppi, and I filled out the questionnaire as best I could. what should I do now??
  4. no I don't believe they did ask me these questions, although I have a copy of the original application form which shows I ticked the box opting for ppi.. . whats my next course of action??? I have no idea of this process and don't want to say the wrong thing to jeopardise my claim.
  5. I have had a reply from Citi Financial regarding credit card PPI mis-selling. I have 2 concerns. 1. Card Protection Policy (CPP) was included in application, they have admitted this was mis-sold and as this was paid before Jan 2005 they have sent me a cheque for £86 , a refund of premiums plus 8% interest. SHOULD I CASH THE CHEQUE??? 2. regarding mis-sold PPI, they are not upholding my complaint. stating reasons . "Whilst we do not accept all of your allegations we do acknowledge that there may have been flaws in our sales process. However, despite this I am not persuaded that any of these sales failings would have affected your decision to take out the PPI policy. This is because, taking into account your circumstances at the time of the sale which are disclosed in your questionnaire , it is clear that you had no other means at the time of protecting your loan repayments. You stated in section D.5 of the questionnaire that you would have received no pay from your employer if you were off work due to an accident, sickness or if you were made redundant. You also stated in section D.6 that you did not have any other means of making your repayments if you were unable to work through sickness, accident or unemployment." SHOULD I ACCEPT THIS DECISION ? WHAT IS MY NEXT STEP?? I value your opinions as this is my first experience with this process.
  6. thanks for your advice. yes I have statements for both, both bank and cc were with Halifax. not sure how to begin
  7. thank you. to be honest it was that long ago I cannot remember if I had ppi. but its not too late to claim back any charges????
  8. thank you DX100, that's most helpful!
  9. I had an MBNA credit card approx. 17 yrs ago. I sent a standard letter asking for information on my original agreement including possible ppi, charges, fees and interest. they sent me a very brief letter stating " Payment protection cover has never been applied to this account, therefore no premium charges have been applied". are they trying to fob me off? and if this is true should I pursue this claim to reclaim my charges (im sure there are numerous for missed DDs and late payments) please advise
  10. would the list of charges include ppi if it was applied to account?
  11. I am looking into all previous credit cards and store finance, and want to see a list of charges for these. Do I have to send the £10 SAR fee if I only want to see a copy of charges to my account, rather than the endless statements? I have quite a few and don't want to pursue futile claims. please advise.
  12. I have a joint halifax account with my ex which is still open but not used. I have highlighted £100's of charges in my statements (mostly missed DDs), going back to 1996. Can I reclaim these without his consent? If awarded a claim I would lodge the cheque in this account, which is still open and not in arrears. Also, we separated 2 years ago, have 4 kids , and £1,000s in debt in credit cards (paying an agreed £50 per month) , and unsecured loans (which are in my name). He contributes nothing to the upbringing of his kids, and I am left to pay the mortgage and insurance etc. do I state these reasons of "Financial hardship"on my claim letter, or just claim that I believe these charges were "disproportionate"? please advise my course of action.
  13. its just a current account we had for about 20 years , its not overdrawn. I couldn't close it without his consent so it has a balance of about £10. he has no access to it.
