I am currently in a debt management plan through step change paying off debts mainly to Santander & one to barclaycard. The outstanding balance is currently around £12k, it has only just come to my attention that once 6 years have passed from my default date the debts can no longer appear on my credit file. my question is simple.. .what happens if I stop paying the debts once they have dropped off my credit file?
