  1. Just writing this to see if anyones had similar problems. Ive had Broadband with BT for the last 8 months or so. It was working fine up til a month ago, where upon it decided to work/stop working/work stop working. Had a BT engineer out, who could find nothing wrong...and its just carried on ever since. I know its not the PC, Im trying a new hub soon but I just wondered if its a common issue with BT?
  2. A quick query that Im hoping someone may have dealt with. I recently cancelled my Virgin Media account, through BT at the end of June and have received my final bill from them today. They have put advance charges on the bill for the period of 3rd August-2nd September for broadband amounting to £21 and a payment handling charge of £5 which presumably is because we cancelled the direct debit and a late payment charge of £10..... Can they enforce either of these charges legally??
  3. Surprise. I've noted your response. I will go the FOS route and claim 8% interest. Many thanks. I will keep you all informed
  4. Well I've had a letter back saying no chance sunshine. The part that amuses me is that it states that PPI is sold on a non-advised basis and we simply provide customers with clear balanced info to enable them to make an informed decision...huh?? Blah blah blah. they've actually included a FOS leaflet in it. Do I go straight for the FOS route or ask them to reconsider?
  5. Hi Guys well we got the statements and an unsigned credit agreement. I will attempt to claim back fro the PPI that wasnt asked for, the admin charges and the 39%. Is there a template letter on here or do I just need to adapt the banking one? Cheers
  6. Surprise thats really helpful Many thanks
  7. Ok If I'm reading you correctly in the first instance we need statements and as the wife didnt keep these firstly we need a copy from the last six years I guess. Stage 2 we send off letter N for the credit agreement stage 3 we ask for the money back if they don't provide this??? Thanks for the help so far by the way
  8. Hello all I've been browing briefly through the threads with this money making machine as its topic. The wife has an account with them and has for several years. I was wondering as I can't find a definate answer what the position is with this company. They had hiked a payment protection policy on her account (without asking) and also charge an extortionate admin fee every month as well. I suspect that this is legally very dodgy for them to do. Just wondering how it is challenged if it is. Do you ask for statements back as per the banks or what? Any help gratefully received
  9. I've had a similar thing with Craphone warehouse. Received a call offering new phone with no upgrade fee and change of contract with current supplier. My bill came in the followng month and guess what... I got charged an upgrade fee and they hadn't changed the contract either. CW said it wasn't their fault and Orange said it wasn't theirs. Currently Trading Standards are looking at it but as they said Carphone Warehouse are notoriously difficult even for them.
  10. Kevinjay I have took on board what you have said and it would be easier just to take the money and run. My point is that I don't see how they can expect us to sign a legal right away just to claim what is ours. I have tried to keep my account in check, over the past umpteen months but still been walloped for £120, which according to the OFT should have been £36, in the 3 instances it happened. The point is that people do go overdrawn simply because S/O's, debits etc don't come out when you expect them too and it is this which has bumped me over. I am claiming what is in fact a very small amount compared to some others on here.
  11. Ok Peeps how does this read?? If ok I will return to Tommy Mac I acknowledge your offer of £xxx.xx, which I am prepared to accept as final payment in this particular claim. However, I do not accept any further conditions imposed by the Royal Bank of Scotland that may in fact be unlawful at Common Law, Statute and recent consumer regulations and I reserve the right to make future attempts to recover this money. I will give you seven further days to consider this offer before I reserve the right to take further action that I have previously stipulated.
  12. I have received a second letter from Tommy Mac for the full amount....BUT it is attatched with a condition that they reserve th right to make future charges and basically asking me to sign to say I won't claim again. Now I know it isn't worth the paper it is written on but do I sign to accept the amount and thus say that I won't claim again. Does this actually hold any legal weight at all or should I just say that I refuse to accept this condition and take them to court?
  13. Just received my goodwill gesture from Mr T. for £530, when I'm Claiming £864.55 incl interest. I cant beleive how far its gone already!!! I sent my LBA on 9th October, is it 14 Calendar days from the day they receive it????
  14. Something unbeleivable happened today. I phoned the bank on an unrelated issue and ended up with someone trying to sell the idea of a savings account to me. When I told him I already had one elsewhere, he was most insistant and it would be so "easy to just put a bit of money in and the rest wouldn't take long to sort"...He sounded gutted when I said no. This kind of made me realise that in the last 10 years or so of banking with them, they have literally turned into a sales company, and I wonder how much comission that guy was on?. Up to that point I never had any issues at all with them, but I become more disgruntled every time I phone them up now.
  15. Basically saying that they are investigating the statements and charges (after preliminary approach)and will contact me with a response in the next 10 working days. This takes me over the 14 days I gave them (just about) but I will wait and see what happens before taking the next stage. I'll keep you posted
