  1. Well I called the mortgage company and they said that my Dad can get his things as they haven't requested a 'warrant' yet so the bailiffs have definitely not attended yet .... phew! The mortgagee is trying to persuade me to send my income/expenditure to come to an arrangement so I guess they still want to resolve the situation. I had thought it was all finished, I know I can't afford to pay the mortgage so I don't know what they expect to achieve. I guess they have to show that they have done everything to try and come to an arrangement.
  2. Thanks so much for your replies. It's nice to not feel so alone with this. I have considered renting the house out or selling it but I really don't want to be a landlord and there are things that need doing to the house that I can't afford. It's run down and needs new heating, double glazing, porch is leaking etc. I admit I bit off more than I could chew when I bought it, in hindsight having a mortgage was never the right thing for me. Tomorrow, I will try & pluck up the courage to call the court and see if the bailiffs have been yet. Fingers crossed that they haven't. I'll also contact the mortgagee tomorrow and ask them if my Dad can enter on the 24th. THIS IS TERRIFYING
  3. Thank you for your reply. The locks hadn't been changed by 19th Jan. Do you know how long they usually take to change the locks?
  4. I have had a mortgage with Acenden (was Southern Pacific) since 2005 and have not been able to pay the mortgage for some time. To cut a long story short, I tried to negotiate a plan to repay the arrears as a small amount each month which was rejected as it was clear that I couldn't afford to start repaying the mortgage & arrears. A date was set for court and I admitted to a representative of Acenden (over the telephone) that I was terrified of going to court and I asked if it was essential that I attended. I also now live 200 miles from the house & the town where the court is. She said that it would be fine if I didn't attend and it would go ahead regardless - I later learned that I definitely should have attended! The judge decided that as I wasn't living at the house that the repossession should be immediate (15th Jan). As I haven't lived there for some time, this is not the problem. One of the main problems I have is that my Dad has been storing some of his things at the house and was hoping to get in and remove them. He can't get a van until 24th Jan. Will he get into trouble if he enters the house and collects his things? He'll only be in there for about half an hour. The other problem is that I already suffer with anxiety & depression and at the moment I am really struggling to cope with this whole mess. I spend all my time panicking that people are going to turn up at the house I live in now (rented from a kind friend) and take everything away from me or that the police are going to come and arrest me. Please can anyone help me? I understand that the house will now be sold and I will be responsible for any shortfall. How long does this take to go through? Also, the mortgage people don't know my new address and I am terrified of telling them in-case they start coming round etc. I admit that I have been rubbish at keeping in touch with them but every time I speak on the phone to anyone related to this I just burst into tears and it's making my anxiety worse.
