  1. A wee bump - can anyone remember if Smile required customers to activate credit cards back then, and if thats when ppi was sold or if it was all added behind the scenes? Thanks
  2. Hi everyone, Thanks for your replies, all very interesting and much for me to consider. Out of interest, does anyone know how Smile were selling their PPI back then? And do they keep records of all customer interactions (e.g. notes from a phone call)? Thanks
  3. In September I successfully claimed back £4,500.76 from my RBS Credit Card, all because the person that sold me it told me I had to have it for my card application to go ahead (I already had life and critical illness cover, death in service benefit and 12 months sick pay from work) This was on a card with a £2,000 limit used to varying degress over 10 years
  4. PPI is definitely on there, what I was trying track down was how it got there in the first place but without a copy of a signed agreement or telephone call transcript/account notes I 'm unusure how to word the complaint as I'm adamant I would never have willingly agreed to it
  5. Hi, Thanks for replying In my SAR I stated that I wanted all information relating to the credit card, including agreements and statements. What I got back was half a dozen statements and a covering letter saying they couldn't find copies of original agreements or transcripts/recordings of telephone calls. Hopefully their inability to provide these will make for a straightforward process then! I'll make a start on the claim form this weekend and keep you posted on progress
  6. I recently sent off a SAR to the Co-op Bank in relation to the PPI that's on my Smile credit card opened in 2005 and they've come back saying they don't have a copy of a signed credit agreement or any other detail of me agreeing to take the cover (e.g. notes on file from a telephone call). I'm adamant either they applied it automatically or I was pressured into it during a "card activation" type call as being a tight fisted sort I never willingly take such insurance, but I have yet to formally complain. I'm a bit confused as to how I proceed. My initial reaction was if there's no credit agreement, there's no obligation to repay the thing but I doubt a court would see it that way. However my understanding is that a provider has to be able to demonstrate my agreement to take the insurance and in this case they cannot do so. So should I send them a letter thanking them for taking my £10 and providing next to nothing in a recorded envelope and demanding it back or should I go back and ask them to check again? Anythoughts would be appreciated R
  7. Hi everyone, I just thought I should introduce myself I'm Rob and I came across the forum whilst searching Google for help info on reclaiming PPI. I've read loads so thought I'd join and add to the discussion! R
