  10. Well, not been on for a while but still been busy!! Just filed online claim for £997 against West Brom for arrears fees, non arrangement fees and broken arrangement fees on a mortgage I had with them. Did get a payment of approx £250 back off them after phoning, for a redemption statement charge (£150 for 1 A4 page received 2 days after requested!!!) and £110 for debt counsellors they instructed without my authority and who never turned up anyway. The also knew that we were changing our mortgage to another company imminently. Anyway, one interesting statement was made by them in a letter to me that went like this: "As detailed to you the application of the arrears fees to the mortgage account is not purely for the administration of the account but also to act as a preventative measure to borrowers who fall into arrears without the realisation that there would be any consequences or actions following the accrual of any arrears balance" Now if that not is stating "it's a penalty charge" but in a roundabout way, I don't know what is. 14 days and counting
  11. Don't think you'll have to wait too long morsy. Like Tink says, stick to what you want and see what's been achieved by others:-)
  12. Keep at it mate, Like a lot of us have said before...it's your money. Like the 'Don' says, take heart from the success the forum members have got and always keep that to mind when dealing with them. Add up your daily excess charges and service charges. Also, keep an eye out for 'commission' charges on your statement (these aren't detailed in the summary at the foot of the statement) as these refer to any 'bounced' cheques. Include these in your calculation when you get your statements through. Happy hunting
  13. Great result Tinkerbelle...looks like a pattern forming with Citi !!
  14. I'd just go for the £975. Addin the debit interest can get a bit complex as others have said on the forum. I'd give em 14 days but keep pushing for 2-3 times per week. If they want to play brinkmanship, then they have to pay the 8% and court costs. No accounting for their line of thought sometimes ?
  15. Keep us posted MST24 and I might come along if you let us know where it is. Could get some pictures up for a laugh then )
  16. Caro, I had no worries with Smile. The credited my charges back before they sent my statements!!!! Go for it, keep on at them over the phone after 2-3 weeks at 2-3 calls a week and you should find a credit applied to your account. Keep us posted on your progress. On your other question, I have been able to use my account, still got £500 O/D facility and a personal loan with them, and had virtually zero communication from them since the refund apart from the e-mail ' your statement is ready for you'.
  17. Sorry Tinkerbelle, That'll teach me to not to get onto here each day (blush as don't know icon for this!!) ;-)
  18. Oh Cr*p. May post is also in the future:-) Do our hosts know something we dont??? Perhaps they could tell us what will happen to all our claims before we know ;-)
  19. Got a nice letter from solicitors for credit card company offering the full amount (charges PLUS interest at 8% PLUS court costs) to be credited to my CC account. Only the 1 so far but general concensus is that it is most unlikely to get into court. But... they may start playing brinkmanship as the tidal wave of claims starts to rear over them.....To be a fly on the wall at these companies now!!!! By the way.......the date and time of your post is in the future (23.05.06 at 05.13). Time traveller are we?
  20. no worries. best of luck and speedy settlements with the rest
  21. Hi Tinkerbelle, Both APR and interest per month. My statement from Feb 06 gives a monthly rate of 2.200% (26.4% per annum) yet my online statement of 07.04.06 gives a monthly rate of 0.801% (9.6% per annum). I was/am totally confused though this was just after I had requested return of charges. What a coincidence???? They stopped my account ages ago but regitering online shows my available balance being £500 pounds now. But.....don't want the card back. Once I get all of em cleared by the charges being refunded they can all be cut up. May keep one for work expenses and pay it off each month so they don't earn any money from me
  22. Hi Tinkerbelle, Sorry.... not been on for a few days. Citi did exactly the same for me but amount I claimed was same as outstanding balance (more or less) so they wiped the lot. Register for online credit card banking with them (this may take too long as they have to send you a passcode) or keep ringing them up to check balance has been reduced by amount promised. I had already registered online and after 2 days, I had a credit titled 'compensation' on my statement for nearly £700. Only when you are sure they have credited your account should you process the 'Notice of Discontinuance' (Hope I've spelt that right) with the court. That it what I was advised by the County Court in Northampton. Congratulations, by the way. should bring monthly payment down a bit. By the way, have you noticed your monthly interest rate may have significantly reduced????
  23. Cheers Jonni. could be a long shot though.
  24. I'd send em a letter saying thanks for the refund but unless you receive the full amount within the next 7/14 days (up to you how long, but I'd go for 7) then you would have no option but commence with legal action to recover the balance. No response in 7 days.....let em have it.

    Late Fees

Hi Matt, Have a read through the FAQs and the library. Course of action, templates etc all there. Need to start with DPA request for list of charges unless you know exactly how much they have levied.
