  1. The advisor was from Nationwide. When completing the application, the question asked was have you been declared bankrupt within the past 6 years - to which the answer was no - she even went to check with a colleague as we had previously tried to complete the application over the phone - but were asked have you EVER been declared bankrupt - at which stage we could not continue over the phone as we had - we had to continue with the application in branch. Following the offer being withdrawn I have requested a copy of the application as there did seem to be some 'debate' about the question asked. On the form is does ask if you have ever been declared bankrupt - with the answer no - which is clearly not the case, or the question that we were originally asked. I'll give the advisor credit as she has looked into this for us and has even explained to the 'powers that be' about the question being different. But it does not change the outcome. Nationwide have offered £200 as compensation for the inconvenience caused - but I'm still unhappy that they withdrew the offer after it had been made, after they were fully aware of our circumstances - our personal/financial circumstances have not changed since the offer was issued.
  2. Well, it wasn't something in the background so to speak. In 2005 I became unwell and had to leave my job - as a result of this my husband & I were declared bankrupt in 2005 and were discharged later that year. When we applied for the mortgage, we were completely upfront about everything and the advisor was very understanding of our situation at that time. We went thought the application process completely expecting to be turned away - however the mortgage was agreed in principle. A few weeks later, the mortgage offer came through. As we had been completely upfront with NW and there had been no changes regarding our circumstances, we thought that all was good - until a couple of weeks later I logged in for an update of the purchase and found the case 'cancelled' - after a few phone calls advised that the offer should never have been sent, due to the Bankruptcy - it had been sent in error.
  3. Hi, Sorry to trouble you - I am looking for advise following a written mortgage offer being sent by Nationwide Building Society ... then withdrawn. It's a long story, so don't want to post in the wrong forum ... but basically the mortgage offer 'was sent in error' and it has now been withdrawn. Please could you let me know where I would be best posting this. Many Thanks
