HI Dave,
Thanks for the fast reply.
No, I haven't started anything yet. Just trying to get a picture of the process.
I only heard about this today, so It's all new to me.
The branch in which I opened the account originally was in England. But by the time I closed it, I had already moved to Scotland. And I was in Scotland at the time that they actually made me pay them the charges (even though they were alegedly incurred while I lived in England).
While I was ill, I couldn't get to the bank to pay cheques in and arrange transfers, and as a result of this, they bank charged me a total in excess of £1500 for 'refused direct debits' whatever they are. All this time I had plenty of money in my savings account at the same branch. So even though my current account was overdrawn, there was never a point when I owed the bank money.
When I closed the savings account, (in Scotland), this was when they actually took off the money that they said I owed them from debts incurred on the current account.
Now this has all come to light, and I can see how they took advantage of my illness. Had I have been feeling 100% well, there's no way I would have left the building without all my money.
